Also, Smith leads Nenshi among approval/favourability ratings. 49% disapprove of Smith, while 46% approve of Smith. Compared to Nenshi where 50% disapprove of him and 39% approve.

I only really see news about Alberta from reddit and you really wouldn’t think this is the case! I should start reading about our country more broadly.

    3. It’s disappointing how quiet/inactive Nenshi has been here, even with all the blunders/controversies that the UCP is gift wrapping the opposition on a silver platter. My initial assumption was the Nenshi was going to wait until getting a seat to put his foot on the gas, but thus far, he just hasn’t and he just hasn’t done enough to capitalize on the UCP’s failures, especially in Calgary which should be very easy for him to do.

I wonder what’s with this slew of quiet/seemingly-uninvolved opposition leaders taking the helm when there’s an unpopular/vulnerable incumbent they can probably beat if they put up more of a fight. (Crombie/Stiles in Ontario & Nenshi in Alberta etc.)

It doesn’t even seem to be an issue of ideology or policy, rather the absence of any drive to actually do something with their position and get their voice/talking points out there.

MAGA has a stranglehold on media in Alberta, there are only a select few outlets not owned by Postmedia, and those that are not include the likes of Rebel, Western Standard and Epoch Times.

Alberta is a test case for how well MAGA can work in Canada if they can dominate the message platforms.
