> California’s Legislature is believed to be the first to pass such a bill, though similar proposals have been introduced in other states and Congress.
> The legislation now goes to Gov. Gavin Newsom, whose support is not certain. “We’re looking at the constitutionality of it,” Mr. Newsom said in July.
> The Democratic governor explained at the time that he understood that officers may need masks to protect their safety in limited circumstances, but that he thought it was “insane” how widespread the practice had become.
California is always first (or one of the first) state in passing progressive laws and that is why the Far-right maga wing is hell bent on portraying California as some failed state. DO NOT fall for it and help them spread their propaganda.

Can a state legally enforce a policy on a federal agent?

Dude, that’s whack. Seriously Cali?? Forced maskless during a pandemic – feels like we’re playin‘ Russian roulette. Protecting the peeps should be priority, no exceptions. Let’s not turn a blind eye here folks! Stand up, it ain’t right.

Good luck enforcing that when the police are helping ICE.

Law enforcement should not wear masks, it’s a slippery slope to authoritarianism and encourages unlawful behavior.

Any police jurisdiction or state that has an ounce of sense and respectability already has department policy or actual law dictating that law enforcement has to identify themselves when excersicing their powers of enforcement, and has the identities of officers in the public record. This just seems like common sense. Why shouldn’t the paramilitary we dumped billions into be held to the same basic standard of accountability to the people?

These agents are public servants. We are the public. They work for and are accountable to us. If they do not like it, they should get another job. They have no right to act with impunity

This will be promptly ignored. Supremacy clause and all.

I mean I know that I already have a plan for how I would handle a masked man with a gun who publicly kidnaps women and children.
Identify yourself properly as an officer acting under order and allow people their due process, otherwise suffer the potential consequences that any other terrorist or trafficking organization could face when they attack American citizens.
Until ICE agents begin to identify themselves properly, they should be viewed and treated as terrorists. I have no clue if you’re a US federal agent, a cosplayer, or a member of Hamas – but you are kidnapping citizens so the burden of identification to justify that is on you so that someone doesn’t intervene and stop a kidnapping.

Oh yeah? Is that judge personally going to stop them or something? Rulings and your job don’t matter anymore when no one cares to listen or enforce them

These goons shouldn’t have been allowed to wear a mask in the first place and I bet that during the pandemic they were the same people that said that wearing a mask made it hard to breath.

They shouldn’t wear masks, but how exactly can a state tell a federal agency how to operate?

Cali over performing but who’s gonna enforce? Aren’t lapd and such secretly excited about it all?

They’ll just wear them over their bill then.

This should be State wide. If people roll up in a van with masks on and zero explanation and/or badge I would defend myself.
What are they hiding? Cowards
No_Progress_278 on
Yeah? And who is gonna enforce this? Because I have a feeling that these imposters playing dress up will not abide by it, what happens then?!
