    1. I’ve linked to the news release in the post above. In this comment, for those interested, here’s the link to the peer reviewed journal article:

      From the linked article:

A new systematic review published in Evolutionary Psychological Science suggests that the life stage of a mass murderer plays a significant role in shaping their motivations, stressors, and target selection. While younger perpetrators are often driven by chronic social rejection and status deprivation, older offenders are more likely to be reacting to acute life disruptions. By applying evolutionary theory, the authors propose that these acts of violence may reflect exaggerated responses to perceived threats to social status and control.

Honestly there’s a network of people who will harass and abuse people in a way that the person can not stop, not at home, not on a hike, no where.

And these people will maliciously isolate, harass, abuse and molest someone trying to cut off contact, take control of their day to day interactions, insert themselves into even their inner dialogue with the intent of causing despair and ultimately violence.

The leap to „loss of status and control“ is absurdly out of touch given how many mass shooters are people that never had any status or control to begin with and that was part of their explicit motivation. This seems like the authors are just reaching for a way to chalk the problem up to the cliche of privileged people lashing our. Maybe because it’s impossible to imagine people from privileged demographics being disprivileged when your entire ideology is built on selectively applying Intersectionality instead of applying it to everyone.

So in either case, the biological animals that we actually are trying to protect ourselves for survival?

    5. That’s basically a description of class conflict on a small scale. So we got people fighting for a place in a hierarchy.
