Netanyahu is a political prostitute and will swing depending on the coalition. This man voted for Oslo and voted to get out of Gaza and several times said that Palestinians should have a state

Now there are right wing extremist who flang him from the right and he has to keep up

I worked with someone who is Palestinian. Prior to the 2024 election, he went on and on about how he loved Trump and when I would ask him why, he would just say that he hits things and takes on the problems. Could not get him to be specific at all. But he did feel that Trump would bring the conflict to an end and it would be good for Palestine.

Flash forward to the past month. He got laid off and now Netanyahu is vowing to eliminate Palestine. The thing is, I know him well enough that he will have learned nothing at all. Even internally, I just don’t think he’ll be able to draw that line from A to B and see that he made a mistake and was fooled. He’s got two young kids and a pretty lousy job market in his field and like many people, he’s going to blame all of this on anyone not named Trump. Propaganda is a hell of a drug.

    3. Netanyahu will be gone by 2026 anyway. Anything he can do, such as building settlements, can also be changed by Israel if they are motivated to do so.

The much bigger issue for the Palestinians is that the Israeli public simply does not believe that an official peace agreement and related concessions will actually bring about peace, but will be a platform for radical Palestinian groups to increase violence against Israel. Basically, Gaza on a larger scale.

Why? Obviously because of a lot of terrorism that the average Israeli grew up with, and 10/7 pretty much destroyed any chances of the Israeli public perceiving the Palestinians to be a potential partner for peace for the next decades.

They may only make the concessions of agreeing to a two state solution happen if the Palestinians make such vast concessions that they would never accept, as the Palestinian state would pretty much be a state without full sovereignty. For example, continued military presence of Israel in the West Bank, demilitarized Palestinian state and control by Israel of the border with Jordan. Oh, and of course conceding the claim to Eastern Jerusalem. They would also generally work hard to remove as much support for terrorism and antisemitism from their society. Palestinian society would never agree to that.

If the Palestinians want peace, the single most important group to convince it is in their interest is the average Israeli who does not believe that a peace deal will actually lead to peace for Israel, a leader like Netanyahu isn’t the biggest obstacle here.

This is also of existential importance to Israel, the average Israeli is also not going to concede on this matter if the EU takes away trade privileges leading to 5 billion less exports to the EU.

    4. Why would you expect him to say something different especially now?
Is the 7th of October supposed to be a reward for a state?
Of course that now out of all of Israels history its the most unlikely that they will think of accepting a Palestinian state?
      Isnt this obvious?

    5. I think this is more complicated than people realize. Bibi feels threatened by the UN vote to recognize a Palestinian state and because of that is doing things to make executing that dream much harder. As it is, there are many settlement towns in the West Bank and if there were to be an agreement the lines would not be the ‘67 lines. By expanding Israeli cities in the West Bank he is saying I reject the vote at the UN. Ultimately, if there is ever going to be a peace deal it will look more like a federation than pure two state solution.

    6. Netanyahu: „there can’t be a Palestinian state if we murder all the Palestinians“.

    7. Oh Satan himself doesn’t want to actually let people live their lives?
