Isn’t Poland a part of NATO? Like doesn’t this directly indicate an attack on a NATO aligned country, which should trigger the rest of the countries responding?

Putin testing how far he can push the buttons…

He better prepare for a stern warning from Europe, and a finger wagging from NATO

    3. If the actual target was Rzeszow Airport, then yes this situation probably qualifies for Article 5. However, take a second to actually think what that means if Poland invokes Article 5. Despite the combined European militaries being a relatively large and formidable force on paper, the legacy of exporting defense to the US still haunts any European foreign policy decisions.

If Europe goes to war with Russia, who will provide the majority of arms and expertise on the logistics and strategy required for a long duration war with Russia? It’s the US. With US backing, NATO is actually toothless.

And at this point in time, how certain can Europe be that the US will guarantee an invocation of Article 5? Honestly I don’t know but if I was a European leader, I might still have the same answer. We don’t know if the US will honor its obligations in 2025.

The attack from Russia has to absolutely do harm. It cannot be near misses.

Because invoking Article 5, there’s no going back. You are committed to a nuclear war.

    5. I sometimes wonder maybe Russia wants some NATO response from all those provocations to have an exit from the war and saving their face that they didn’t lose the war to Ukraine but to NATO.

    6. They are wrong. The drones were either taking a circuitous route to try and avoid Ukrainian AA (they have them flown through Romanian airspace before, remember), or they were spoofed by EW and off course.
If you just think about it logically, is Russian really going to kick off a war with NATO using a handful of shitty one-way attack drones? Really? And now, of all times to do it? Not even vaguely realistic.

      This is ill-informed speculation.

This is absolutely horrible. It does not get much more serious than this. If NATO had any meaning at all, NATO would invoke Article 5, not Article 4! However, European NATO member countries know that Donald Trump and the Trump Administration would not back them in invoking Article 5. The EU and Europe should act now and act decisively. They should not wait to see how Trump and his administration will react. They need to consult with Ukraine and formulate a viable, coherent strategy to bolster defenses along Europe’s frontiers with Russia, to counter Putin’s Machiavellian geopolitical machinations, and to aid Ukraine militarily!

If this actually happened, they would invoke article 5 instead of article 4.

I don’t think it’s up to a Ukrainian newspaper to decide if Poland has been attacked or not.

There is no way the Ukrainians could know where those drones were planned on going. All they could know is what direction they were heading.

If Poland actually believed they were attacked, all hell would be breaking out right now.

Little by little Russia will push limits. What seems inappropriate today will be a normal reality tomorrow if left unchecked. Take Turkeys example.
