* no I’m not criticizing the guy for changing FFS. I’m criticizing someone for apparently only developing *basic common decency* when their shitty behavior harms someone they are personally connected to. That’s sociopathic.

Republicans are unable to feel empathy the way normal people do. It is very sad. We probably shouldn’t elect them to public office.

This person needs to be primaried out ASAP.
Since a lot of them are going to defect to the Democrat party to hold onto office, And sorry mate but you’ve already demonstrated clearly what your values are and what you vote for when you’re in office.
So if you keep backing this person/voting them in, you’re just backing another maga candidate by different name/primary this person out instant you can Oregan or expect more of the same from them, no matter what banner they claim to fly.

It’s messed up that he apparently only accepts gay people because he found out his son is gay. But, I’m willing to extend him some grace and give him the opportunity to prove that he’s sincere and is treating everyone with the dignity and respect they deserve.

I am glad that he chose his son over his party. I don’t believe anyone who was running as a republican in the last 20 years should hold office even if they’ve suddenly decided they aren’t republican anymore. If you want to be a Democrat now fine. Give your office to a Democrat then. None of this team switching based on the wind bullshit.

Sure, I agree with the “where the hell were you before” crowd. But as an LGBTQIA+ member with a conservative dad, I like this. I was lucky enough to have my own dad put away his ego and harmful beliefs when I came out and we can have a relationship. In this case it’s his son that matters and if this makes the son happy, I’m all for it.
