      > Along with Spanish and Slovenian broadcasters, RTÉ had sought consultations with the EBU on Israel’s participation, and the EBU had committed to dialogue on the issue.

Good to see we’re part of a growing number of countries on this.

Important to not the EBU have consistently lied to contestant countries about giving access to voting data from the last competition, they can’t be trusted and their hand needs to be forced

Great. Always nice to see us rake a stance (almost means we can’t be embarrassed lol)

    3. Surprised and pleased to see this. Hopefully others will follow suit. The idea that Russia are excluded but not Israel has always been massive hypocrisy on the part of the EBU.

    4. Based. Nice. Good. Good to see state bodies actually representing the feelings of the people.

    5. Excellent. In a western world dominated by bought politicians and institutions, I’m proud to be Irish on this subject.

    6. They should give Israel the feckin boot, because they AREN’T PART OF EUROPE, but more importantly THINK THEY CAN KILL WITH IMPUNITY AND ERADICATE AN ENTIRE POPULATION.

    7. Israel literally owns eurovision, it’s main sponsor is an Israeli company. Germany is so deep in its support of Israel that they stated they will back out if israel is punished

Half of Europe could leave eurovision and nothing would happen. That’s the unfortunate truth

    8. Ireland to **consider** (according headline, article is more definitive) withdrawing **if** Israel is allowed to participate.

      We haven’t withdrawn yet.

    9. It’s a bit late but it’s good to see RTE finally having some backbone.

    10. This might actually inspire me to pay my TV license.

Kidding aside, absolutely fair fucks to them.

    11. Wouldn’t it just make far more sense for the EBU to just kick them out of it? That would be a far better use of common sense.

I assume countries are pulling out to try and pressure the EBU into doing that, but it was the same with Russia, just exclude them from everything

The right thing to do but should have been done last year. Handy way too to save money on the budgets for rte with no domestic competition or sending people to the competition

This is fantastic opportunity to highlight their priorities

Are they willing to lose 3 European nations from the fucking Eurovision in order to accommodate a Middle Eastern nation

    14. The actual title of the article is **“Ireland considers withdrawing from Eurovision 2026 over Israel’s participation“**. RTÉ has not yet confirmed that Ireland will withdraw:

      >In a statement released today, RTÉ says that „it is RTÉ’s position that Ireland will not take part in the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest, if the participation of Israel goes ahead, and the final decision regarding Ireland’s participation will be made once the EBU’s decision is made“.

Israel shouldn’t be allowed in for no other reason than it’s not in Europe. Same as all the other non European counties that want in. Do a worldvision or someshit if you want.

We should do the same for UEFA and FIFA competitions. At least it’d be a moral victory.

Maybe we should do a Countyvision instead? All 32 counties battling it out

    18. Great news! It’s time now to start putting as much pressure as possible on the EU to sanction Israel also !!

Genuinely shocked, but pleasantly so to see this. A lot of the conversation about Eurovision has been deeply annoying for the last two years – from the artists moreso than anything else. I really hate all this lark of participating until you’re out, and then when you’re out complaining about Israel and making a big show of it. The definition of hollow platitudes.

Did not expect RTE to have this level of guts but fair play. They’ve gone up in my estimation.

      Good stuff

This is how you do it. Contrary to how some people frame it, Russia’s only disqualified from UEFA because European teams refused to play them, not because UEFA/FIFA make judgement calls.

    21. good riddance, those pro terrorist state shouldn’t mix their propaganda with a music contest
