Any death is tragic, but yeah innocent kids being hurt vs a podcaster/shock jock. It just seems like America has accepted our schools aren’t safe and they’ve stopped covering these events.
The children who were also murdered. The people who are being kidnapped by ICE. The ongoing cover-up of Jeffrey Epstein’s paedophile rape club by the Republican Party. Russia attacking Poland. Strong indicators of life on Mars. An indestructible flying orb.

In reality, human beings have become desensitized by violence, and children who are being gunned down in schools are part of our normal routine. Gun deaths are only important if you’re a celebrity.

One side of politics in the US has normalized things like school shootings. The death of one of their figureheads is much more impactful to them. Because of this, it is going to get the news coverage and the outrage.

Because the person whom they are obsessing about said things like this. Not that they don’t mind being hypocritical about it, as their sub proves.
Really has little to do with him being a political figure who fanned fires and more just being a celebrity. If even a D-list actress was assassinated in broad daylight in a crowd we’d also see the same from media regardless of that actresses political beliefs.
But also for the record the “we” implies a lot of us are obsessing over Kirk when I certainly am not, but yes, I’ll concede the media is. As for why a school shooting isn’t getting more press regardless – school shootings have become so commonplace that unfortunately unless the body count is high enough they are barely a blip on the media even on a light news day (no celebrity being assassinated). Which is a problem in it of itself, but that’s the reality.
I think we all know why. Certain deaths unfortunately will always be more impactful than others. Because the person shot had a lot of cultural significance and power. The shots in Sarajevo come to mind.

Is this a rhetorical? Americans dgaf about their children. If we did, we’d have free healthcare, education and training outside the military. We won’t even provide food to children in schools where the law says they must be – unless you can pay for it (and dont you dare compare food at a rich vs poor school). We are no better or different than the cartoons of the savages throwing sacrifices into the volcano to worship the angry gun god. We’ve got troops illegally in our streets and the 2nd Amendment crowd dgaf so what are those guns for? If not now, when?
Cities mid-size or larger now spend half their local budgets on their justice system. How many times do you see multiple cop cars together and find out later it was a big fat nothing burger? A donut or a DUI. No school should be unguarded or be Uvalde where nothing was done and no cops were disciplined. They all still got badges.
He served his purpose. Most likely trump had him killed to get the nation to stop the Epstein list Debacle.

the MAGAs would look at that as not a tragedy but a win. The shooter is dead and the kids are not. That’s what a successful day in America looks like to them, with everyone carrying guns all the time and a few shots getting fired. It’s nuts.

Well-known figure versus a regular incident. The media will go with the one that creates the most drama, it was getting rolling coverage on the UK news as well.
He literally advocated for people to lynch and murder trans people. He was literally advocating for political violence.
Sucks for those kids who died, their death is being over shadowed by the death of someone who deserved to die.
Because school shootings have become normal part of American life. I saw a comment in a different post that says there had been 350+ school shootings this year so far, so sadly this is „old news“.
Political killings are so far quite rare, but also political killings/attacks tells us what dangerous times we are in politically and the effect the current political rhetoric is having.
But the real reason is that the right is pushing this to use as example of why they are right.
