Because Floyd’s death was seen as racially motivated. Even if it wasn’t it came during a time of many black people being killed by cops for very little or no reason. Come on dude, you can click the talk page and easily find why they haven’t identified Brown. On Wikipedia, standard practice is to not publish the names private citizens as suspects of a crime unless there’s a conviction. In this particular case (from what I can gather, I’m not an editor), due to the sources naming Brown as the suspect and the nature of the evidence, it can be changed if a consensus is reached.
It’s not at the level of consensus but there were more „pro-publish“ than „anti-publish“ votes, and there is raging debate. Lots of the editors are trying to push for publication because they know people will judge Wikipedia’s credibility, and others are saying that rules are rules, and Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a news site.
