Temporary, forced relief for problems that have been a part of life in Vancouver since before Ken Sim lit up his first cigar. Vancouver deserves holistic solutions, not „surges“.
This is the sort of thing that politicians are very often wrong about, because it’s hard to study. Looking at a single city and trying to correlate things is not good enough. As an example that’s still paraded around to this day, stuff like broken windows theory reducing crime in NYC is really, really questionable if you properly study it.
This same police force has already been caught red handed massaging the numbers in the lead up to the election to benefit their preferred candidate so any „data“ they try to show on this issue is at this point will come with doubts.
