Es ist nicht zu leugnen, dass, wenn Sie einen Armenier fragen, welchen Kontinent sie sich näher fühlen, 100% Europa beantworten. Im Widerspruch dazu scheint es, als ob die Armenier die Möglichkeit sehen, sich der EU selbst in der fernen Zukunft unmöglich anzuschließen, und es scheint ihnen fast surrealistisch, dass Armenien auf ähnliche Weise wie die europäischen Länder gedeihen kann.
Eine andere Sache, über die ich sprechen wollte, ist die Sklavenmentalität. Als stolzer Armenier fühle ich mich angewidert darüber, dass jemand sogar über die Möglichkeit nachdenken kann, dass unser unabhängiges Land, das sich Russland anschließt und so etwas wie Tschetschenien wird. Ich werde den Weg geben, um auch die Tatsache zu erwähnen, dass es keinen einzigen patriotischen russischen Armenianer gegeben habe, den ich jemals in meinem Leben getroffen habe. Es ist fast so, als würde Russland normale Menschen in pflanzliche Idioten verwandeln. Viele von Ihnen könnten ein Beispiel für Samvel Karpetyan (oder jemanden wie ihn) geben, der viel Gut für Armenien getan hat, aber er ist ein Putinist mit Gehirnwäsche und ein Sklave der russischen Diktatur, und wenn Menschen wie dieses unser Land besetzen, sind wir zum Scheitern verurteilt. Kein einziges Land hat sich von der Zusammenarbeit mit dem Terrorstaat namens Russland ausgewirkt.
Warum verwenden wir immer noch so viele russische Wörter in unserem Vokabell? Warum sind unsere Buchhandlungen zu 60% in der russischen Sprache? Warum gibt es kleine Kinder, die in Russisch so viele Cartoons gesehen haben, dass sie es schwer haben, ein paar Worte in ihrer Muttersprache zu murmeln? Warum lernen wir in unseren Schulen immer noch Russisch? Warum verhalten wir uns so, als wären wir ihre Kolonie? Ein Russisch kommt auf die Straße zu mir und fragt in Russisch grob nach dem Weg, muss ich Russisch kennen?
Armenien ist in seiner Essenz eine alte europäische Zivilisation. Unsere Vorfahren aus Cilicia kämpften während der Kreuzzüge zusammen mit den Franzosen und Briten. Unsere Vorfahren haben immer für unsere Unabhängigkeit gegen das russische Reich gekämpft.
Wach auf, Leute.

I definitely agree with most of you said. Btw as much as diaspora loves dashnaks people that grow up here and went to Armenian school and taught about the history of them have a wrong perception of it. Dashnaks was and is still extension of KGB not to say that there were true heros that were dashnaks rip to Monte (btw my grandpas brother was one as well and he was the leader of Razdan’s group he had a lot to say about all the inner secrets) not to mention the obvious Russia was one of the main reasons why genocide was that successful. The reason why Naxijevan was given to azergayjancis. Fk them whole heartedly. Even tho I still have harazat uncles in Moscow and theyre madly brainwashed
Joining Russia is the only way Armenia will survive. We can’t keep fighting Azerbaijan alone because if we keep this up Armenia will be no more in the next decade or two.
I’m not gonna respond to the political aspect of this, but no, we are in no shape or form a „European civilization“. Christianity alone does not make one European, Christianity is literally a Middle Eastern religion. That’s literally the only thing we have going for us in our authentic culture, that could be considered remotely European. EVERYTHING else, our food, genetics, music, clothes, national traditions and customs, etc etc is directly related to our Middle Eastern neighbors with nothing in common with French or British culture. A few centuries of European influence that barely resulted in a few loanwords being added into our language does not outweigh the fact that our civilization is completely eastern at its core.
Ironically, the only real European influence we see in Armenian culture is a direct result of Russian colonization, which kind of feeds into my point. The current clash between the NATO west and Russia is not a clash of two different civilizations, but a clash of two different modern political systems. Russia is literally a tier A European civilization, they have produced some of the top Musicians, artists, writers in the European tradition that are still highly regarded to this day all over Europe and America. Armenia is completely detached from that, whatever we have contributed to this civilization in the form of people like Aram Khachaturyan was as a direct result of us being colonized by Russia. We don’t need to LARP as being part of European civilization, to align ourselves with the current Western European political agenda.
I dread to think that one day Armenia could become infested with the same pathetic LARPing that exists in Georgia, where some hairy ape who looks straight outta Baghdad takes literally every unrelated opportunity to remind everyone in the room that they are European by screaming and yelling about it.
PS. In Europe, they use many English words in their vocab, many of their books are in English language, there are young children have watched so many English cartoons that they find it difficult to mumble a few words in their mother tounge, people learn English in school, people rudely come up to them and ask them directions in English like they HAVE to know English. That’s a natural part of being a small ass ethnic language surrounded by a much bigger one that has had a historical influence on yours. If you wanna argue that we should ditch Russian because they betrayed us, that’s one thing. But this general situation is always gonna exist no matter what.
PPS for most of our (relevant) history our ancestors enthusiastically fought on the side of the Russians because they were objectively much better for us than the Persians or Ottomans that came before them.
