Will AI wipe us out or drastically improve society?
[Fretting about AI taking your job](https://www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/ai-jobs-poll-b1244630.html) is so passé.
At best, it will upend society as we know it.
At worst, it could kill and dismember us to make paperclips.
Gainful employment will be the least of your concern if humanity got turned into stationery. At least, that’s the premise of the thought experiment haunting Silicon Valley since 2014, when philosopher Nick Bostrom published Superintelligence: Paths, Dangers, Strategies.
Umm i recently read an article on economist about ai being just a technology. And I think the only shudders there will be, would be from people who bet their savings on meteoric rise of ai. Ai is based on data science and the problems with collecting useful and applicable data and then having someone reasonable/critical thinker on that data is massive. Ai is a tool with same socio political constraints.
Tech Bros changing their minds? After all the investments? 😂 You funny. Let’s all laugh while we still can.
>Is there still time for the tech bros to listen?
Noooo! The machine overlords already unleashed their killer bots and enslaved humanity. Only a couple of free humans are hiding in caves deep enough for the satellites to not find them. They try to code a virus that will stop the overlords on an old Casio watch in hopes to save the planet. They call themselves „the tech bros“…
What a pile of bullshit. AI will be „stopped“ when the hype ends and they won’t be making the same amounts of money from it anymore… Then we will or will not go back to calling it algorithms and the next corporations will find another way to take our money. I doubt there will be a machine uprising any time soon.
Although maybe it will happen before the Epstein files get released. Might at least be a good distraction from them.
