In a democracy, let people decide what they want instead of unfairly labeling them. If they want to rejoin the far-right, let them but institutions shouldn’t be used to shut them down.
When fascism comes anywhere, it will be carrying a bible (upside down in the US) and wrapped in the countries flag.
While they ignore the likes of Rupert Murdoch and their Sky news operations that helped promote their values and encouraged the seeding of resentment during covid by dog whistling for these groups and while continuing to encourage them.
If you turn on Sky News in Australia you will find broad support in a sly manner towards to these groups by encouraging their agenda.
The governments main concern was the outpouring of ordinary people onto the streets with a minority of far right wing trouble makers which the government wants to use as an excuse to shutdown the debate about the high levels of immigration by portraying everyone in these protests as „racist“ who attended these rallies.
Its amusing because if the government planned for these high levels of immigration in a proper way with infrastructure and funding for things like roads, schools, houses, hospitals and other infrastructure you would not have seen such large crowd numbers by ordinary people who have been impacted by the incompetence of the current and previous governments that saw the immigration floodgates open. Its a rare event to get ordinary people onto the street for a protest against a sitting government. Unlike the French!
But as is usual in Australia governments just want to ban and silence common rights of protest rather than address the underlying issues. They always ban and curtail rights first!

You mean an English speaking country of 25 million people is being affected by the hundreds of millions of other English speakers, billions if we include non native speakers and bots, on the internet? I’m shocked. What’s most impressive is how resilient countries like Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, and the UK are to Americanised conservativism, less so neoliberalism sadly.
A lot of cope going on with no one mentioning rising cost of living all over the West. The unrest will continue until governments begin to realize this and put the interests of their own people above foreigners and mass immigration.
