Genuine question, if china makes a NATO like security pact with USA’s bordering country let’s say mexico. Wouldn’t USA do the same thing with mexico that russia is doing with Ukraine. The West shouldn’t have poked Russia unnecessarily.

Russia wont dictate terms if they lose.

Its by no means gaurenteed that they will.
