But rare NRA win here. They at least have more backbone than a number of other institutions that bent the knee to Trump

They know what’s coming if that’s allowed to happen. Hopefully some of the other mouth breathers can read the room & oppose this.

Gun Lobby wants more people buying guns. Having Trans people buy guns not only lets them sell guns to them, but it might also encourage bigots who are scared of the big bad transboogeyman to buy guns to „protect“ themselves. The NRA is first and foremost an extension of the gun manufacturer’s lobby that cares more about the desires of those leading that industry from an economic standpoint than any of the ideological bullshit they use as a smoke screen

    4. The NRA are still scum, but they recognize that if a GOP president can ban a group from having guns so could a dem president.

    5. That’s good. But I’ll still throw away the NRA info pamphlets they provide with nearly every gun purchase.

No way these spineless simps actually grew one. This is a request for funds.

    7. They’re only saying this because they know a ban of any kind can set precedent for anothe rban down the road. This is not a W, this is a nasty organization protecting its interests.

Always seemed like a weird move to go after gun rights specifically. Propose a ban on gender reassignment altogether, MAGA will goosestep to that tune all day. But government snatching guns?

The 2a absolutists were never gonna go with this, I don’t think SCOTUS would either. We can only hope that this causes 1-2% of them to wake up and realize that Glorious Leader is maybe not as good for freedom and liberty ad the marketing materials claim.

    9. Can you imagine the amount of hypocrisy that would be required for the NRA to not take this position?

Anything that takes guns away from anyone is a non starter for them.

Of course. See, in their eyes, all revenue streams have rights. Even the smaller ones. Well, not rights, plural, just this one.

Well I’ll be damned. I stand corrected.
Now let’s see if those lobbying dollars start shifting

    13. The headline is misleading; the NRA never said any such thing. The NRA said they support gun rights for *law abiding* Americans and no removal without *due process*. That’s it – nothing about trans.

If you read the last 100 executive orders Trump has issued, it’s no stretch at all to see one declaring all Trans/anyone with „gender disphoria“ *not* institutionalized to be in a form of rebellion; . Or Trump’s Department Of Justice/Pam Bondi declaring that „due process“ has been completed.

If the courts can agree with the administration’s viewpoint that trans people are „unfit“ for the military, why would anyone think the courts would side with human rights over the conservative’s desires?

Why would you single out one group of people?? Nevermind, I forgot who I was dealing with

I mean, as much as I loathe the NRA, I’ll at least give them credit for sticking to a principle here, and not folding it at the whim of you-know-who, which is more than I’ve seen any other right-leaning person or organization do in a while.

Even if that principle is to not give a shit about how many kids die of gun violence.

My God, these are confusing times.

    16. The NRA does not care what is in your pants, unless it’s a gun, in which case they want you to keep it.

    17. That’s because the NRA is just the voice for gun manufacturers posing as a citizen run organization. The gun lobby puts a ton of effort into instilling Americans with constant fear of other Americans, so they will buy guns to protect themselves from their perceived boogie man. The current political climate has been doing wonders for them and they have only been encouraging it.

So when the president says “I’m going to cut your sales” when the pot is *ripe for them to benefit from it* of course they will take the actually moral stance because it *directly benefits them to do so*.

They want gun sales. That’s it. That’s why their solution to school shootings is to give teachers guns.

Of course, those are customers and it’s a legal mine field to start restricting gun ownership based on gender or most anything else.

Don’t believe empty words. The nra are snakes in the grass

What are they going to do to influence Trump besides put out one press release? That’s an effortless empty gesture

Are they calling for and organizing a protest? Gonna denounce him at their convention? What are they doing to “fight” for rights here?

    20. NRA?

Finally pulling their collective heads out of their asses?

      Damm.

      Probably not for long though.
