      I don’t like maduro or the shit he’s done but are we going to be upset over another country responding to the US killing 11 of its citizens? I understand the claim is they’re drug smugglers but do we have the right to summarily execute foreign nationals for drug crimes? If he didn’t respond to the posturing and active attack on civilians I think the media would crucify him at home. It’s just posturing on both sides. This timeline has a sex offender president of the US vs the drug cartel supporting president of Venezuela. I’d take a drug smuggler over a pedo any day of the week

      Maybe they should review the footage from the recent Iranian conflict. Although it was mostly Israeli attacks with US support Iran is way stronger than Venezuela.

      It’s worth pointing out that whatever our feelings on the dictator of Venezuela are Trump is still very clearly purposely trying to provoke a war so he can justify authoritarian policies at home

      Only today we had a statement from the US Department for War, yes worth remembering that the US has just moved to call the DoD the DoW, that appears to imply the US is now calling the Venezuelan military a „Drug cartel“ (And thus terrorists per the US designation)

      He didnt even get that many votes in the last election. The only votes he got were from public employees forced to vote for him, and those wont fight for him.

      I know this is hypothetically stupid for the Venezuelans, but you could’ve said the same about the Viet Cong. As an American, I have zero motivation to go to war with Venezuela. I get the feeling most Americans feel the same

      I have zero doubt that the U.S. could easily dispatch this regime… and then we would spend years propping up some puppet regime that is utterly incapable of standing on its own without massive U.S. financial and military support. We would spend years bleeding out fighting an insurgency, get tired of it and give up and pull out.
