These free speech champions don’t want free speech; they want to restrict speech to only that which aligns with their illiberal authoritarian politics.

Free to say what they want you to say. Anything else and they’re desperate to silence you.

She always massively confused why she’s not winning reform over.
Let’s be honest Kem, it’s not just the last cabinets they have a problem with.

The Byline times can still have any opinion they want about the tories. Their speech hasn’t been restricted in any way.

So, a party talking about the importance of ‘a free press’ bans a media outlet with no explanation?
Honestly, what a bunch of spineless cowards.

Free speech generally means freedom from government censorship or restraint regarding speech.
It doesn’t mean anyone is allowed to attend private party conferences on private property.

Again they aren’t banning what they say or publish.

They are consistent – Farage did the same, Orban in Hungary did the same (he even spoke about Soviet-style censorship whilst he did not allow any non-Govt-friendly press to his speech) and so on.
This age-old recipe is not fascinating – the fact that these glaring self-contradictions in age-old far right propaganda do not bother their fans at all is.

Both Conservatives and Reform, bastions of free speech, get scared of journalists…

Yup, free speech, unless it’s my version of free speech not yours.

Freedom of speech is not freedom from consequences. If you write certain stuff about people/parties don’t be surprised if they don’t invite you to their events.
Kemi is not the government, this is not a free speech issue.
If she was Prime Minister and was banning news agencies from official government press conferences, then that would be a free speech issue.

Same as reform did. Interestingly byline times did an excellent job on exposing reform and farages funding from russia….. is that a coincidence …. Hmm
