Most Americans still don’t know that [alcohol can cause cancer](https://ysph.yale.edu/news-article/the-link-between-alcohol-and-cancer/) — and the alcohol industry is working hard to make sure it stays that way.
For the past three years, the industry, aided by its allies in Congress and later the Trump administration, has sought to discredit and eventually bury a major analysis that offers new evidence of the link between drinking alcohol and getting sick and dying from various causes, including cancer.
It appears their campaign has succeeded. Three co-authors on the [Alcohol Intake and Health Study](https://www.samhsa.gov/substance-use/prevention/iccpud/alcohol-intake-health-study), which was commissioned in early 2022 by the US Department of Health and Human Services under President Joe Biden, told Vox that they were informed last month that the Trump administration did not intend to publish the final draft of the study or its findings.

This one is really weird because Trump is very anti alcohol. Perhaps his only redeeming quality is that he doesn’t drink or do illicit drugs.
(Edit: ignore the drugs part; was talking about hard drugs, the intention of this wasn’t to get into whether adderall is a drug etc, focus on the alcohol part)
I say this as someone who drinks lightly but also admits that, the WHO has explicitly said “no amount of drinking is good for you” https://www.who.int/europe/news/item/04-01-2023-no-level-of-alcohol-consumption-is-safe-for-our-health
And I mean they come out hard:
“Alcohol is a toxic, psychoactive, and dependence-producing substance and has been classified as a Group 1 carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer decades ago – this is the highest risk group, which also includes asbestos”
Trumps friend died of alcohol addiction. It makes no sense why he would do this. He obviously doesn’t have a good heart. He doesn’t care about the well being of others.

No one buried anything. This news has always been widely known. Every fucking doctor will tell you. Alcohol is a poison. It can cause a wide variety of destruction to the human body, same for smoking. Cancer is just one of many maladies both cause.

Who cares about that! They said they found the cause of autism! What is it!
But … People with cancer, who do not know it is cancer and are unable to get pain relief, are more likely to drink as a way to deal with the pain. For many people, it is the only way they have to try to control the pain.
It becomes a chicken-or-the-egg situation. Which one was first can become impossible to clearly identify… Muddying up the results of studies like this.
It just shows how unserious these people are.
RFK is obsessed with Autism and Vaccines and wants to prove a link and base policy around it.
So you’d think that means that he is interested it peoples health and what he can do to improve it.
Along comes a study that claims a link between Alcohol and Cancer and apparently the cause/effect of substance/disease in this case is not interesting to him.
I guess he just hasn’t spent enough time on the internet arguing himself into a corner about Alcohol and Cancer yet.
