Wie Sie vielleicht gehört haben, ist Zypern auf der Strecke, um Teil der Schengen -Zone zu werden.
Dies wird irgendwann im Jahr 2026 erwartet.
Und ich wollte Perspektiven darüber aus der Gemeinschaft hören.
Ich habe ein paar Kommentare dazu.
Nachteile:
Eine beträchtliche Anzahl von Reisenden, einschließlich digitaler Nomaden, besucht Cyprus, da es aufgrund der derzeitigen Visa -Grenzen für uns, Südamerika und andere Staatsangehörige eine Lücke für die Überstaaten in der EU bietet. Menschen, die durch die EU reisen, verlassen die Schengen -Zone, indem sie Zypern besuchen. Dies wird kein Problem mehr sein.
Vorteile:
Es gibt keine Passprüfungen, wenn Sie nach Italien fliegen oder jemanden aus Deutschland fliegen. Der Zoll wird wie inländische Flüge ausführen. Dies gilt für alle Menschen nicht nur für EU -Bürger, daher kann jeder aus einer Nation in Zypern eintreten, wenn er aus einem Staat in Schengen stammt.

Derzeit besuchen nicht viele Leute Zypern aus der Türkei. Weil sie sich ein Zypernsvisum aus einem anderen Land bewerben müssen.

Es gibt jedoch eine weniger bekannte Tatsache: 7 Millionen türkische Bürger haben eine Art Reisepass, der als Green Passport (hauptsächlich Regierungsangestellte und deren Familien) bezeichnet wird und es ihnen ermöglicht, in die Länder der Region Schengen einzureisen.
Und technisch gesehen können die Bürger nach dem Einschließen von Zypern in die Schengen -Zone nach Zypern innerhalb der EU reisen und alle Passprüfungen umgehen.
Dies schafft eine Schwebe, in der sie legal die Insel betreten, aber illegal bleiben (weil sie kein Visum haben).
Können Sie sich vorstellen, dass sich ein türkischer Rucksacktacker in Limmasol mit Handschellen befasst, weil sie den Flug genommen haben und niemand etwas gefragt hat und sie nicht wussten, dass sie ein Visum brauchten? Und glauben Sie mir, das könnte leicht passieren.
Was sind Ihre Meinung, sollten wir in Schengen eintreten, um mehr und bequemer zu integrieren?

Even higher rents… unfortunately
Main advantage for people like me who have a Cyprus residency, which doesn’t let you travel to Europe (and can’t have more than 2 stop without transit visa in the Schengen) but also all consulates of European countries here can’t handle amount of demand there is to apply for visas making it incredibly hard to travel. Many Russians have to fly to Moscow to apply for European visa there.
After joining to Schengen you would just be able to travel freely. Moving to Cyprus for work from non eu countries will become a more lucrative offer.

But how can we join Schengen with the current green line status? Seems weird to me and i dont get it
Also third country nationals who now work for peanuts (domestic workers mostly) will take advantage of lack of border controls and will move to other countries where they are paid triple
A few observations on this:
1. Customs is already operating for EU flights like domestic flights. Schengen is about movement of people, not goods. Nothing will change.
2. The Schengen visa requirements for Turkish citizens are the same whether they hold a Green Passport or not. Issuance of such passport is a domestic Turkish issue, the Schengen countries have not waived any visa requirements. Everything else is a myth.
3. Airlines will be required to check on valid papers and visas as they do on every flight to a Schengen country from a country outside the Schengen area.
3. There will be no limbo.
4. The only open question is on the handling of people entering Cyprus from the North. But I suppose these checkpoints will be treated like all external Schengen borders.

Like 3 million Turks alone own a German passport and then there are other countries, we Turks don’t exclusively live in Turkey with only a Turkish passport
Will bring an increase in business for shipping. Crews tend to be non eu and need visas. It will be much easier for ships to stop in Cyprus for services without the crew needing a separate visa. Cruise ships will also operate more smoothly coming from Schengen countries. Will bring more visitors that don’t already have a Schengen visa who before wouldn’t bother to go through the whole process for just a Cyprus visa, now it will be worth it as next year they can visit Greece for example.

Golden Passports industry will rebrand to Golden Visas 😅
I might finally be able get to my family from Germany without doing a flight transfer and would like to visit other places than the north as well. But even though it might be Schengen, would the Green Line allow Turkish citizens to cross?
