Mine went up 28% and I couldn’t even find anything cheaper!

My motor insurance renewal came in a few weeks back at **€642**. I went onto their website and purchased the same new motor insurance policy (but as a new customer) and saved **€100**.
Before we get a tsunami of woe mine is 350 euro and slightly less than last year was less than the year before again and I’ve maxed out my NCD so it’s not that.
Shop around and you will get a quote for less than you paid last year.
I know people here defend it, but this is exactly why automatic renewals shouldn’t be allowed. Predatory business.

Had something similar with allianz. Ringing them did no good so I got a couple of quotes elsewhere.

I unfortunately have to deal with this every day (I work in insurance) its going up across the board due to no fault of most drivers
The propaganda of „insurance should be cheaper now we have passed this legislation“ was bull from the start, the insurance companies found ways around it very quick all while the government patted themselves on the back
What I have been told and whether its our own propaganda I dont know, but the number have claims in this country has drastically risen and the cost of the claims with repairs and the like has gone up cause inflation so this cost has been passed onto everyone
I know all this likely is of no comfort to you at all I know well its not for all the people I talk to day to day
I’ll say to you what I can’t say on my recorded calls in work, shop around! It may be annoying and time consuming but I’d reckon theres someone out there that can save you 2 or 3 hundred
Do tour qoute online again and get a new business qoute then renew it if its better otherwise leave, I used to work for Zurich if you keep renewing they keep increasing the price.
„We always give the best quote online“ is the biggest joke the Irish insurers have ever come up with, ring them and they’ll change it to be at least the same as, if not better than.
Maybe someone here more qualified than I would be able to answer, but under GDPR would you have a right to know what they based the premium on? Or a right to know why its gone up by so much?

Tbf I haggled them down to €565. So I got quoted at about €400 from both Alliance and Outsurance but Outsurance discounted a bit further and I ended up getting it for the sum total of €365 and felt like a king for a day.

I live in uk now but do about 3/4 comparison sites through a cashback website to try and gain any penny back I can. The bastards.

It’s called a ‚Loyalty Penalty‘ – get hit with it every year meaning I have to shop around every time
Just call them and they will drop it to what it was last year.
Spend 2 or 3 hours shopping around. I’ve seen Allianz mentioned on here doing the same but I switched to them and put another driver on my policy and it came down from €998 with Kennco to €540 with Allianz
I got a shocking renewal quote from Zurich a couple of years ago despite having a clean record. I moved to AIG and saved a fortune.
What kind of car do you drive? I only have 6 years NCB and have got fully comp on a VW Golf R for €530. You just need to shop around
