It looks like OP posted an AMP link. These should load faster, but AMP is controversial because of [concerns over privacy and the Open Web](https://www.reddit.com/r/AmputatorBot/comments/ehrq3z/why_did_i_build_amputatorbot).

Maybe check out **the canonical page** instead: **[https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cr5rgdpvn63o](https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cr5rgdpvn63o)**

Nice! Always loved the Norwegians, now we get to build them some epic ships

Last time Norway bought some decent navy ships – from Navantia, Spain – they rammed it on a rock and sank it.

    4. Can we buy some?

Our frigate program is a Fing disaster.

There are rumblings we may request for Japan to build us Mogamis

I am a bit surprised given the close cooperation between Germany and Norway of which one naval example is the Type 212CD submarine. Perhaps Norway just feels they needed to spread out their purchasing to engage more relationships.

As an aside it is worth noting Canada redesigned the Type 26 so drastically that one hardly resembles the other. The Canadian variant is designated the River Class Destroyer and is an Aegis class ship and will have the AN/SPY-7(V)3 radar while still retaining all that Canada feels needed to continue their tradition of excellence in sub fighting.

The River Class is designed to fit into the US Navy combat net when in task force, and into the NORAD net for continental defense. It will have Mk 41 VLS although at this time Canada is only known to have purchased SM-2 but it can shoot any package that is designed for the Mk 41 including the SM-6. I personally think there is a real possibility Canada will acquire SM-6 down the road.

There is criticism of Canada going with AEGIS as Canada has its own extremely capable Combat Management System „CMS 330“ which has the Aegis fire control loop integrated.

I would term the River class to a patrol „destroyer“ follow up to the prior Canadian Halifax patrol „frigate“ class.
