You know he is going to end up as president because he got his own special propaganda biography movie on Netflix

    2. This guy is gunna make us get the mark of the beast to prevent communism LMFAO

    3. For the fanboys, who’s going to be his vice president?

Probably going to be an issue any day now.

    4. You also missed that he did a 180 on his feelings about Trump and became his VP.

Vance met with Peter Thiel in 2011 while he was still in law school.

The name change was in 2013.

      Very strange.

“He was into that whole Yale thing.”

      “Yale thing?”

      “Yeah, Yale thing.”

      “What whole Yale thing?”

“Well, he was probably a closet homosexual who did a lot of cocaine. That whole Yale thing.”

    7. Not saying that’s the case, but believe or not, exceptional people exists, there’s not too many vice-presidents out there. I’ve watched a YouTube video a while and a guy who was studying at Harvard said he was happy because he was the first person of his family in college. He was probably telling the truth, right?

Going to Yale doesn’t always imply wealth. Maybe well-to-do but not necessarily wealthy. The Obamas went to Harvard (they were alright maybe even better than alright but not wealthy until recently). I think Jim Rogers (the investor) came from poorish background and went to Yale. Not everybody at Yale was born into wealth and… being wealthy isn’t evil.

Yale on an educational scholarship does not mean rich growing up. How many other kids from his hometown went to ivy League schools?

Vance was born James Donald Bowman on August 2, 1984, in [Middletown, Ohio](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Middletown,_Ohio),[^([2])](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JD_Vance#cite_note-The_New_York_Times-3)[^([3])](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JD_Vance#cite_note-Ward-2024b-4) where he was also raised.[^([4])](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JD_Vance#cite_note-5) His parents are Beverly Carol Aikins (née Vance) and Donald Ray Bowman; they divorced when he was a toddler.[^([3])](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JD_Vance#cite_note-Ward-2024b-4) Vance wrote in his 2016 book about being of Scots-Irish descent,[^([5])](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JD_Vance#cite_note-BBCk-6)[^([6])](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JD_Vance#cite_note-he-7) but a 2025 report commissioned by Northern Ireland’s [Democratic Unionist Party](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democratic_Unionist_Party) found no genealogical link between him and Ireland.[^([7])](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JD_Vance#cite_note-8) He grew up in an [Appalachian American](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Appalachian_American) culture, spending summers with relatives in [Jackson, Kentucky](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jackson,_Kentucky).[^([8])](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JD_Vance#cite_note-9)[^([9])](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JD_Vance#cite_note-New_Yorker_2016-09-12-10)[^([5])](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JD_Vance#cite_note-BBCk-6)

After Bowman was adopted by his mother’s third husband, Bob Hamel, his mother changed his name to James David Hamel to remove his father’s first name and surname and to preserve an uncle’s first name, David. Vance therefore kept his nickname, JD. His surname changed to hers after her parents became his caretakers.[^([10])](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JD_Vance#cite_note-PeopleParents-11)[^([11])](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JD_Vance#cite_note-FOOTNOTEVance201694-12)[^([12])](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JD_Vance#cite_note-13)

    16. >Vance frames the book as a chronicle of overcoming severe economic disadvantage. But the details of Vance’s own writing don’t point to a childhood of material deprivation. Instead — despite the myriad troubles faced by his mother with substance abuse — Vance was raised in middle-class comfort. At one point, his parents enjoyed a six-figure income. And he was spared economic distress by a broad safety net of extended family that provided him with frequent out-of-state vacations, golf lessons, a modeling audition, and therapy. Most importantly, he benefited from a buffer of generational wealth created by his “Papaw,” who retired with a “lucrative pension” from his union job at the local steel plant.
