    1. >“Today, I am calling on the General Assembly to take action on congressional redistricting and initiative petition reform to ensure our districts and Constitution truly put Missouri values first,“ Kehoe said in a statement on Friday.

      >Kehoe also unveiled a proposed congressional map that he called the „Missouri First Map,“ which he said splinters counties and towns less than the state’s current one and preserves two districts as they are.

      >“Missouri’s conservative, common sense values rooted in faith, family and freedom, should be truly represented at all levels of government – local, state and federal, because representation isn’t just about districts and lines on one map,“ Kehoe said in a video accompanying the announcement.

      I hope this backfires horribly.

Gerrymandering works when you are trying to sneak more seats with a narrow margin. When that margin shifts a bit it can lead to a sweeping change in seats.

    3. Wonder how much it costs the state to do a special session. All that money for a single congressional seat.

Goodbye Democracy. Trump and his agents are inept and corrupt for having started this.

There is no forgiving Republicans for how they have destroyed our country.

    6. These effing guys. They will do anything to stop the march of progress toward an egalitarian, multi-ethnic, tolerant democracy. MAGA is nothing more than a desire to return to a time when straight white men controlled everything, women and people of color knew their places, and the gays were invisible. And they will do their best to establish minority rule to get there if they can.

Reminder that here in California the Governor is leaving the decision up to the voters.

Why do they always look like the heartless developer villain from an 80s kids movie.

    9. Democrats have my full blessing to gerrymander the absolute fuck outta every single state they’ve got the power to. Gerrymandering is bad, but so is adhering to principles that let fascists destroy democracy. Gavin’s got the right idea, it’s time to fight these fuckers.

They know they are in trouble come the midterms which is why they are cheating. The people will speak next year , no amount of cheating will stop the people voices.

I don’t understand why everyone didn’t freak out when the Supreme Court granted criminal immunity to the President? That opened all of the doors.. undermined the very foundations of Democracy. And it happened under Biden!!

The American people don’t want to protect democracy. They have taken it for granted. And they will lose it.

They’re also going after direct democracy in Missouri. From the [Missouri Independent:](https://missouriindependent.com/2025/08/29/missouri-governor-calls-lawmakers-back-to-capitol-to-gerrymander-congressional-map/)

      >As for changes to the initiative petition process, Republicans are pushing a plan that would require a statewide majority and a majority vote in five of the state’s eight congressional districts in order to approve a constitutional amendment.

      >Currently, a simple majority is all that is required.

      >Under that “concurrent majority” standard, analysis by The Independent last year found that [as few as 23% of voters](https://missouriindependent.com/2024/02/05/as-few-as-1-in-5-voters-could-defeat-initiative-petitions-under-missouri-senate-proposal/) could defeat a statewide ballot measure.

      >The gerrymandering and initiative petition push will begin in the Missouri House next week, with the expectation that bills will be sent to the Missouri Senate for it to consider them during the legislature’s annual veto session on Sept. 10.

September 10 is the day we start collecting signatures on our amendment to protect the initiative petition process and ban MO politicians from attacking the will of the people. Learn more and find out how you can help at [respectMOvoters.org](http://respectMOvoters.org)

If you’re not popular enough to win on your own merit., them become a Republican and deny, cheat and lie your fuckin’ ass off and the dumbasses will believe all that bullshit. It’s really sad that there are so many challened individuals in the country.

    15. Would be nice if we could outlaw gerrymandering once and for all. Would be nice if our elected leaders were serious about governing and not partisan bullshit. I can dream.

      TL/DR

      Current map is 6-2

Trying to change it to 7-1

They didn’t do it before because incumbents balked it’d make their districts competitive.

if you try to take 7, then the 7 seats are potentially at risk if there’s a wave election.

I’m a little surprised they’re doing this. The odds of them holding all 7 would be far from guaranteed especially if KC is getting divided up.

For years I voted republican. Then I stopped voting for certain republicans. Then I found myself voting for democrats.

An odd thing for me as I am socially conservative. But conservative like pro life across the board (womb to tomb, proper nutrition, good jobs and so on), proper family values (not this abusive ugliness I see so much of… and suffered myself). Conservative in terms of obeying the law, in the Constitution, of acting against unjust and unconstitutional laws.

‘Tis a strange place to be.

I am old enough to remember when Reagan being twice married was a scandal. When Bush signing tax increases was a betrayal. When Nixon’s crimes motivated everyone to abandon him.

Now… chaos and moral bankruptcy across the board. Sad.

That’s ok Missouri, another BLUE state will do the same right after you.

      See how this works?

      👉🏻👌🏻 morons.

Conservatives are well known for their subpar morals and ethics and they will work tirelessly to prove it.

    20. masstransience on

Republicans in Missouri are even worse than in Florida. Voters have voted and the Republicans continue to ignore the will of the people.

    21. Rampant gerrymandering will be the excuse to cancel the midterms if the whole martial
      Law doesn’t pan out.

    22. This will push what’s left of this country into splitting in two. If the gop lose in 2026 they will claim fraud and refuse to give up power. If their ice Gestapo even let people vote.

    23. This is going out of their way to inject their will on the democratic process. Better get active in your community or America is gone.

    24. Remember….this is the same guy who vetoed paid sick leave after the voters approved it…

    25. This is a losing proposition for republicans. The only reason why they did it was because of the old man with a cane in Texas. Missouri’s just trying to get attention…. I guess good luck
