Poor Boomers. Let’s give them a 14th AHV to compensate for the VAT increase.
Thanks to the referendum committee for leaving the question of financing out of the refendum. Das habt ihr toll gemacht!
It’s nuts that the younger generations have to pay for the mistakes of the boomers (i.e., not having saved enough for retirement), while at the same time also having to put money aside beyond the 2nd and 3rd pillars to have a remote chance of retiring, plus the fact that the vast majority don’t own property (while the proportion of boomers who do is much higher).
Can we stop raising the one tax that mostly affects middle and lower class and just raise taxes on the wealthy?
1. Young ones don’t vote and then complain. Such a sad state of affairs.
2. Increase should have been financed by progressive tax increases in wealth(2M+ wealth) and income tax(>250k earners).
3. Need to work on issues like rent control and taxing landlords(2+ homeowners heavily) so excessive rent seeking is not a lucrative option anymore.
I swear this federal council literally hates the people who actually work in this country! And by work, I mean break a sweat and burn more than 300 calories doing their jobs every day.
It’s just strange that they won’t raise taxes where rich get their income from, like dividends, stock exchange and other banking operations.
Just one more VAT increase
The 13th AHV payment should mostly be made through cutting expenses elsewhere (looking at you 113 millions private jet and the billions for new fighter jets and the money for Olympics 2038…) and on raising taxes on the wealthy… I doubt people would have agreed on it had they known this would have led to EVERY FUCKING THING in their life being more expensive…
Guys don’t worry, at this rate we still have a couple more years before we reach German or French VAT levels.

Every move of financing this is going to meet negativity. Easy to hand out money if you don’t have to specify where it’s coming from. Honestly fuck the parties who supported this and fuck the majority who voted for this, for putting this completely unnecessary burden on young people.
Thank God the millionaire boomers really needed that extra 1700CHF per year.
This is just the bourgeois parties punishing people for voting the wrong way again. Like tobacco adverts, like minimum wages. Dare don’t do what you are told and they will make sure you pay the price. The only answer is to vote them out.
a country where 30% of residents are immigrants (and do not vote) and 20% are swiss older than 65, shouldn’t allow them to vote on such things. it’s like asking kids if they want to go out and have an ice cream. This way elderly people are exploiting democracy.
Switzerland is becoming a joke like Italy.
