Japan erwartet den Legacy Semiconductor, LCD -Produktionstransfer nach Indien

SS: The Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) are working on building an IP, tech, and manufacturing transfer partnership to move the manufacturing of mature node semiconductor, LCD display, and battery technologies to India in order to reduce dependency on China.

The announcement also comes ahead of PM Narendra Modi’s visit to Japan for a summit with his counterpart Shigeru Ishiba on 29 August, where the economic security initiative is expected to formally announce [Japan’s plans to invest $68B in building Indian manufacturing capacity](https://asia.nikkei.com/politics/international-relations/japan-to-invest-68bn-in-india-over-10-years-including-ai-and-chips) in semiconductors, batteries, and other technologies – highlighting greater alignment between Japan and India on manufacturing and technological development.

As mentioned in a previous post, ExChina supply chains are increasingly being developed by countries, who are working with economies like India, Vietnam, and Mexico to start building capacity along with alternative supply chains when faced with increased competition from Chinese players.

This also highlights India’s attempts to diversify it’s export markets away from the US, while continuing to meet industrial goals.
