      Japan doesn’t usually cancel high-level visits last minute. That says a lot about how sour the talks are.

      Japan’s top trade negotiator, Ryosei Akazawa, abruptly canceled his U.S. visit, delaying finalization of a $550 billion investment-for-tariff deal. The trip was put on hold due to unresolved administrative and working-level coordination issues.

      The July agreement included U.S. tariff cuts to lowering tariffs on Japanese imports to 15% in exchange for substantial Japanese investment. But Japan is insisting that overlapping tariffs be removed via an amended presidential executive order before locking in the agreement.

      You can’t negotiate or make a deal with Trump. All negotiation attempts are futile effort. Might be better just waiting for the next presidential election.

      The way China or India have handled this is so much better than the former allies in Japan, South Korea or Europe. Just leave him hanging. Unfortunately that’s a luxury that countries need strategic autonomy for. It would be interesting to see how France would be able to go this one alone, not necessarily tied to the defeatist EU leadership.

      Seems like american vassals are finally starting to internalize this. It will be scary and uncomfortable at first, but steps must be made to create a new world architecture.

      EU started sucking even before Donald could unzip, what a shame.
