There was no chance they were going to throw Ontario manufacturing to the wolves. They would have gifted the next election to the Conservatives.
Likely wait and see how bad Trump screws them over and go from there. If the industry just collapses then you bring in cheaper cars.
Very disappointing. We are sacrificing our agriculture to Chinese counter tariffs for the sake of blocking Chinese EVs when we don’t even make competing vehicles in Canada.
Maybe we should manufacture some of these ‘Chinese EVs’ here. That way we can support Canadian auto workers and reduce reliance on an overtly hostile neighbour.
