You’d expect Polievre to go full MAGA like this on immigration with the full support of Trump. It’s the old „immigrants are stealing our jobs“ story.
I’ve really been surprised it has taken so long for Poilievre to adopt this messaging. Trudeau gave him such an incredibly wide berth to promise reductions in immigration (especially TFWs, international students, and refugees) that it is kind of head-scratching why he never moved on it. I think it’s not excessively cynical to think that if he had won in April his government’s immigration policies would have closely mirrored Carney’s. He certainly seemed over-shy to criticize it before now.
He’s correct of course, but in Canada we have a history of leaders criticizing the TFW system while not in government and then pressing down the accelerator once they’re in. So spare me if I’m a bit skeptical as to how substantively different a Conservative government would be on this issue.

If he actually turns the tap off of TFWs and deny his corporate cronies of cheap labour, I’ll sell all that I have and donate to the Tories political campaign.
PP won’t do it. Carnie won’t do it. No one is coming to our rescue.
I guess his previous stance wasn’t gaining any votes.
