Right after the war kicked off between Russia and Ukraine Europe was like “shit we buy all our fuel from Russia… we need to sort this out”.
What was Trudeau’s response? [Nah, we’ll invest in clean energy.](https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/trudeau-scholz-canadian-natural-gas-europe-1.6558542) So glad that clown’s finally gone, and glad that Hodgeson seems to have a clue.
Steps in the right direction.
Trudeau’s entire energy policy should be rebuked. The „lost decade“ is more than just a Poilievre slogan. It represents a lost opportunity to capitalize on our oil and gas resources to generate wealth and fund all those innovative energy alternatives as well. Instead, we left with the worst of both worlds. Challenges in getting those resources to non-American markets and limited leadership in alternative energy solutions.
If our PM said there was no business case to sell energy during the Russian invasion, while Europe also remained & today remains the largest buyer of Russian fuel, but there is a business case now – we ought to question what factors were taken into account and if a business case just isn’t what the PM or his lobbyists wants.
Bit sad we were led down that path for so long, especially being the NATO ally we claim to be.
