This is on purpose. Anyone who is arguing against democratic states gerrymandering at this point doesn’t understand the playing field.

And ironically, it isn’t until we gerrymander the fuck out of the country that it will likely finally be outlawed.

If we ever change the current system to a real democracy the entire republican party will just be a few small towns here and there, They have only lasted this long because of gerrymandering and empty land counting as people.

Well then, stop giving money to these fucking RED states who are gerrymandering their way into power to control us all the while we’re paying the goddamn bills- no more

Why can’t we just vote by county? Why must the maps be so tortured? Or just make a grid or something. This is fucking ridiculous.

That’s facts a big part of this democracy is the voters sitting on their ass and hope everyone else participate

      Key examples of undemocratic tyranny:

      (1) Gerrymandering (politicians choosing their constituents)

      (2) Electoral college (46% of Texas population that votes Dem is not represented in Texas’ selection of President)

      (3) Senate (more per capita representation in Wyoming than Texas)

      (4) Legalized Bribery (money in politics, Citizens
      United)

The only kind-of bright side to the Texas redistricting is that in order to make 5 secure red seats, they had to make 10 red seats vulnerable.

Trump, and his scum bag Republicans want to take away the mouthiest Dem Reps they can. By hook, or by Crook.

    9. If Democrats can get out the vote more than they have historically, they have a better chance at flipping more seats than not under the new map. The maps are designed for limited electoral involvement. If the people, collectively, can’t get out to vote against this nonsense then we deserve the results, collectively.

I’ve always said that Colegrove was wrongly decided and that the Guarantee Clause is not a non justiciable question. Whether it’s democrats or republicans doing the gerrymandering, it’s a violation of the republican government guarantee

You mean the guy that Capitol police hauled out during the state of the union for speaking the truth? Not surprised. But I guess that’s the point. Things that would be horrifying years ago become commonplace when we inch further away from democracy and decency.

This is authoritarian rule at work. Republicans do everything they accuse Democrats of

The urban areas in Texas should not share a congressional district with rural areas that are 300 miles away.

He can still win his new district. The downside of gerrymandering is the voters can really screw up your planning. Spreading districts this thin can lead to many lost districts from either an apathetic or pissed off voting base.
