I suspect all of this is timed. Ontario, Ottawa, and other municipalities switching to in person all at once can’t just be a coincidence.
It’s also a terrible idea. Employees see hybrid work as an employment benefit now. People are selective of employment based on whether they have the ability to WFH or not. Suddenly removing that benefit is going to result in workers retiring early or quitting for jobs that still offer WFH.
And the people who are gonna quit are those that are skilled and experienced enough to get other job offers. Those that don’t bring much to the table or don’t offer good work ethic aren’t going to get other job offers and are going to remain in their positions, albeit with a more soured outlook on their employment.
I’m guessing this isn’t going away. Too many people I know have sworn never to work from an office 5 days a week.
so many people were hired after WFH or Hybrid work became a thing and to these people the commute became less of an issue. I think there will be a big readjustment as people switch jobs with less of a commute.
Can someone convince me that this isn’t corporations going back to trying to divide the family unit? People are spending too much time together, they need to force us to be apart in office or sitting in traffic.
