President Donald Trump suggested on Tuesday that his administration will pursue the death penalty for anyone who kills another person in Washington, D.C.

„Anybody murders something in the capital, capital punishment,“ Trump said while speaking to reporters at a televised Cabinet meeting. „If somebody kills somebody in the capital, Washington, D.C., we’re going to seeking the death penalty and that’s a very strong preventative. And everybody that’s heard it agrees with it.“

The president’s comments on Tuesday came seven months after he granted unconditional pardons to roughly 1,500 people who were convicted or awaiting trial in connection to the deadly January 6, 2021, Capitol siege.

You really can’t start a headline like this man

Obvious paradox. Eventually only one could survive.

Oh that’s rich. Can we start with the killing of the police officer on January 6th? Oh, and who started that riot? Oh yeah, the guy who thinks we should now have the death penalty for killing someone in the capitol.

1. Powerful, often exclusionary, populist nationalism centered on cult of a redemptive, “infallible”
leader who never admits mistakes.

2. Political power derived from questioning reality, endorsing myth and rage, and promoting lies.

3. Fixation with perceived national decline, humiliation, or victimhood.

4. White Replacement “Theory” used to show that democratic ideals of freedom and equality are a threat. Oppose any initiatives or institutions that are racially, ethnically, or religiously harmonious.

5. Disdain for human rights while seeking purity and cleansing for those they define as part of the nation.

6. Identification of “enemies”/scapegoats as a unifying cause. Imprison and/or murder opposition and minority group leaders.

7. Supremacy of the military and embrace of paramilitarism in an uneasy, but effective
collaboration with traditional elites. Fascists arm people and justify and glorify violence as “redemptive”.

8. Rampant sexism.

9. Control of mass media and undermining “truth”.

10. Obsession with national security, crime and punishment, and fostering a sense of the nation under attack. **<– This line**

11. Religion and government are intertwined.

12. Corporate power is protected and labor power is suppressed.

13. Disdain for intellectuals and the arts not aligned with the fascist narrative.

14. Rampant cronyism and corruption. Loyalty to the leader is paramount and often more important than competence.

15. Fraudulent elections and creation of a one-party state.

16. Often seeking to expand territory through armed conflict.

So Trump is trying to euthanize himself? Interesting move Donald.

Hmm, now why would you order that? 

The death penalty was repealed in DC in 1981.

The federal government can still seek it for crimes committed under federal jurisdiction within the district

So does this mean *outside* of federal jurisdiction? Is it just performative? 

Why is he ordering this now?

Who, your sons? There is so much information out there–reliable information, not the same place you get your news about people eating cats and dogs–that proves that the death penalty is NOT a deterrent.

Admittedly, those studies and reports come from smart, intelligent people, of which, you are not one.

Regrettably, you also fired anyone who would disagree with you, filling their roles with unqualified „yes“ men (and women–don’t forget the strong, capable, utterly braindead women you shoveled into office too!), so you live in a complete echo chamber.

Just because a word is related to a thing doesn’t mean it should be punished with that thing.

Lets start with him first. Cutting Medicaid will kill a lot of people.

Killing little girls with a flood in Texas is fine though.

He doesn’t seem to understand that he is not part of law enforcement or the judiciary. Can we stop electing people who can’t pass an elementary level government class.
