      It’s a „Schattenfuge“. Architects loves them.

It creates a clear cut between different surfaces, making differences in the paint, color etc. Less visible.

    2. The perspective is making it a bit hard to see, but what i see a lot is the celing paint being continued a little down the wall, presumably to create a cleaner transition if the corner is uneven.

If there is an actual groove there then i would say it’s probably bad drywall installation. The plasterboard may be added but the edges not taped, instead just wallpapered over, creating the groove at the top.

It seems germans love wallpaper, they avoid plastering and just wallpaper over any crap. I hate it with avengance.

    3. Okay, I think I have something to say about that, because I have build that situation a lot of times.
Judging from your post that looks like a rental in a newly constructed building. That pretty much rules out a designated place for a led strip, because nobody got money for that.
It is a „gleitender Deckenanschluss“ your looking either a drywall or leightweight stone wall, likely 11,5-12,5cm in with, that is NOT load bearing. The ceiling above can flex with weight, season and time. To not introduce stress the wall is specially constructed to absorb the vertical movement of the ceiling in this groove.
