Finally some political sense from Modi.
India did not make that much from trading oil with Russia, maybe $20 billion or less, while Norway made more than $100 billion the same time due to the war. OTOH, it took much of the blame for war profiteering. Meanwhile the US defense contractors and oil and gas exporters made a ton of money as did the Middle East but got no blame.
India’s stern lecture to Europe about colonial attitudes, might have given a warm and righteous feeling in the moment, but it didn’t win friends.
Norway on the other hand just kicked back about $8 billion of that $108 billion in profits to Ukraine, that kind of gesture buys goodwill.
Europe is not and probably will never be in a position to hear a lecture from a former colony like India on colonial evils over the problems of today.
India is the dude that is cool with everyone, has a lot of friends but not a single best friend
Modi is another one of Putin’s puppets. Don’t fall for the trap.
Modi, buddy, Zelenzky does not need a Wow Incredible India Vaction right now. What practical policies are India going to put in place to immediately pressure Russian attacks? Send the proposals in written form via your Ambassador. Then visit Ukraine to sign the actions. And visit the front.

But what for? I assume he will say something like: we respect Ukraine, but want to keep buying cheap oil. Ukraine can’t provide that, so the meeting is kind of pointless.
Let’s hope this doesn’t offend Russia. Otherwise it’s good night, India. India will be conquered by Islam in the west and China in the east. Their dream for centuries.
India will do well to remember that Pakistan has historic US and Chinese military funding. And China has US and EU trade funding. No sanctions on either for their various actions. It’s the ultimate end game: the West wants compliant slave countries to lord over, not an irksome democracy.
In contrast, the only reliable partner for India is Russia.
Supporting Ukraine is the wrong move. It’s a country that has always voted against India in the UN and is an arms supplier to Pakistan. Check your history.
