No, please, can we make this era of three word slogans die. In fact, can we make slogans die. I’m an adult, not a four year old. I am capable of processing ideas that are provided to me in the form of full sentences and even paragraphs. On occasion, I’ve been known to even read entire books!
Pierre Poilievre is not a serious person. I think Carney has dealt with many unserious people in his career. I think he should treat Poilievre the same way.
I don’t understand the “boring” rhetoric with Carney. He’s actually quite charming under the right circumstances, he’s just always placed in serious settings. No one from the CBC is going to ask him questions that make him have witty responses. But on the daily show, yes.
However, one critical area I think the Liberals will be wise to get ahead on is crime and safety. Trudeau was demonized by conservatives every time crime happened in the media. It’s perfectly fine for people to value safety for their family and themselves.
But you can’t tell voters why you can’t have tougher penalties for criminals because it violates the charter or whatever. Poilievre is telling voters exactly what they want to hear, even if it’s disingenuous. And he’s going to make Carney public enemy #1 the same way he did to Trudeau.
Produce some legislation that will shut up the right-wing rhetoric once parliament resumes, with sensible policy that will reassure people on their safety.
Boring is exactly what most of us want right now honestly. If PP jumps at making drama again it is more likely to hurt him. Though he seems to already be going down the road of drama and I’m sure it’ll boost Carney on the polls. And I don’t want Carney long term (he is too right wing for me) so I’d prefer PP to stop with these bs drama blowups.
I disagree. It shouldn’t be „boring, baby, boring“. I should be „build, baby, build“. The reason Poilievre was able to attack Trudeau so effectively is that Trudeau had a hard time delivering on his promises. He would make grand sweeping statements and then nothing would come of them.
Carney needs to say he’s going to nation build, and then actually fucking build something. He’s talked about infrastructure for example. If by the next election we don’t have major infrastructure well on its way he’s toast.
