I have a name that peo0le jist could not get right the first time, no matter what. Not even on mail sometimes. I gave a up a long time ago and Dunst is not that much older than me.

As a Hispanic, I love that Spanish speakers have no issue saying my name because all names are basically phonetic.

Had a kid in middle school show up with the name Amit. Being midwesterners, we didnt know how to pronounce it. Someone just started pronouncing it Ah-me. Idk makes sense, silent t. Then years later like senior year, now he’s Ah-mitt.

It’s not everyone else’s fault Dunst’s parents couldn’t spell the name they pronounced.
Isn’t this just a case of Americans pronouncing names differently to Brits and other English speakers?
Generally, Kirsten would be pronounced with the „ir“ sound in „birth“ or „first“, the same as with the name Kirsty. I always just assumed her version is an Americanism like saying „Airon“ for Aaron, „Creg“ for Craig and „Gram“ for Graham.
