      >Governor Ron DeSantis, whose Florida Department of Transportation was responsible for painting over the memorial, defended the action on X, writing, “We will not allow our state roads to be commandeered for political purposes.”

Don’t you just love a monument to one of largest mass shooting in our nations history is „political“ but confederate monument down the street is „history“.

Also just fyi there’s nothing poltical about homosexualality or about honoring those who died in an act hate and and terror.

It was a memorial to innocent victims. It is a petty move from petty minds.

How many fringe areas of our society can the GOP alienate already? These bigots — lead by our Commander-in-Chief — are making us intolerable of anyone considered „the other“. It’s a shame and a travesty.

A disrespectful action from an administration headed by a child rapist that won’t release all the Epstein files.

Not that the outcome would’ve been any different had it been Trump’s explicit decision, but wasn’t this ultimately decided upon and put in action by Gov DeSantis? It sounds like the Trump Admin just gave him the BS pretext

    6. Let me guess, he replaced it with a crosswalk that honours the confederacy, and also put a tole on it that goes straight into his bank account.

Maybe add more colours . Like maybe . Ebony. Pink. Silver. Teil. Emerald . Indigo. Nyanza. There file it away for latter.

    8. Republicans are such cowards, of course they did this in the middle of the night.

For Christ’s sake, we can’t even keep memorial sites now, WTF!!!
The rainbow crosswalk was there to honor people that died.
It’s like destroying something at Ground Zero or something. 😠
      A despicable evil act!!!

I posted this yesterday but the mods removed it due to not being “political”.

Which is just crazy to me given that Ron DeSantis has said it’s 100% political including the mayor.

    11. This is the most disgusting thing I have experienced in my life frankly. Anyone who supports this is a Godless piece of crap and I wish the worst for them.

When will we have had enough of this shit to remove the nazis from office?!

    13. Christian nationalists hate the lgbtq population (and most other minority groups). Christian nationalists are in charge of the government. Of course they’re going to try everything in their power to erase the population from existence and erase them from history. Christian nationalists are objectively evil.

    14. If you think you can „LGB Minus the T“, here’s another example of why you ard misguided.

Duffy wants to make sure that drivers aren’t distracted by crosswalks. Perfect! We definitely don’t want anyone noticing a designated area for crossing the road. I suppose all crosswalks need to be painted over for safety reasons.

    16. Desantis still trying to be relevant in maga. “Look guys I hate the lgbtq too, am I in now?”

    17. We need to have reporters go after these people all day asking why. Just that. „Why are you erasing the memorial?“ Let them try and justify it.

    18. Remember in 2016, Trump used the Pulse shooting as racist /xenophobic campaign fodder saying he’d be better for the LGBTQ than Hillary and would protect them from “Muslims/Islam”? Fucking old dementia ridden, sack of shit.

    19. Imagine claiming to be a Christian and doing stuff like this. We’re not all a bunch of assholes with hate in our hearts, not even close actually. God teaches us to be kind to one another and it’s painfully obvious what sect(s) of Christianity support this behavior.
