The amount of dog shite in my local park is insane. It’s one of those parks with a rake of signs saying you’re supposed to walk your dog on a lead but nobody does anyway, and the majority of the walkers aren’t paying attention to their dog at all while it’s taking a massive dump beside the playground. It’s manky.
People who don’t pick up after their dogs are a scourge. The north inner city is a disgrace for this. The dog wardens are clearly not fit for purpose.
If you’re not prepared to pick up your dog’s shit I’m sorry buddy you’re not prepared for a dog.
Live in the city, although my dog passed this year after a solid 15 we never once failed to pick up after him. If he had a runny one I’d go back out with a spray and water. It’s not hard, the bags are €1.50 ffs. Anyone that doesn’t pick up after their dog is a low life.
The number means very little out of context. I was in Denmark recently and stepped in dog dirt, which is something that hasn’t happened at home in years. I remember it was everywhere in Ireland when I was a kid and you’d barely go a week without it happening, but it’s extremely uncommon now. Maybe there are so few fines because it’s fairly uncommon.
If the angle they’re taking is that it’s a health issue, the number of people affected by this health issue as a result of dog dirt would be a more meaningful metric to see how much of a problem it is.
Where can I apply for the dog warden job? My entire neighborhood and nearby parks are covered with dog shait. It is driving me nuts. I wish I could do something. Doing it part time would suit me perfectly.
I always pick up after my dog. I have been known to walk up to people, hand them a poo bag, and say, „Oh, I know what it’s like when you run out“
I’ve no idea but I imagine it’s a hard one to police. You’d think perpetrators of this kind of thing would usually do it when no one is around.
Pay the dog wardens a performance related bonus and that’ll soon go up. That said the dog wardens in Galway are lovely and I suspect they’re so busy with welfare issues they just don’t have time for fining lazy people.
All dogs should be registered and a DNA sample taken at registration.
Then dog wardens could simply walk around and take a swab of a feacal sample, link it to a dog and send a hefty fine in the post.

Has there been a huge surge in child blindness I’m unaware of. When I grew up dogs roamed everywhere and I do not remember anyone ever going blind. Usual hysterical nonsense.
Seriously, if you can’t clean after your dog, it simply means you’re not ready to have one. The other day I saw another dog owner cleaning after someone else’s dog. What a fine lad, he was. I think some dog owners can learn from the fine lad.
If I could pick up after my senior dog’s diarrhea at 9 weeks pregnant battling morning sickness, most people can pick up after their dogs.
I volunteer at a charity shop in my town. People often leave donations at the door when we’re closed. Other morning I was opening up first at 9am. Arrived at the door to see a woman with two dogs stood watching one of them shitting near a donation bag in the doorway and then walk away. I called her back and gave out to her. Recognised who she was and was very shocked she’d allow it to happen. Told her what she’d done was disgraceful and that she was disgusting. Loads of I’m sorrys from her only because I’d caught her. She had the nerve to ask me for a bag to pick up the shit because she’d none on her ffs
I was working in a house recently in a small rural town. Front door goes straight to the public footpath. I was going to get something from the van one afternoon and a teenager was walking her dog. As I came back to the door the dog was shitting right in the doorway. Once the dog was finished the teenager continued on. I called them back and said “you can’t let the dog poo on the footpath and just leave it there, have you got a bag for it?” She just shrugged her shoulders and said I f do not usually clean it up and then walked away. For the next fortnight, their parents would give me a dirty look when they walked past. Why would people bother cleaning it up when there is no repercussions?
