      The Republicans rolling back clean energy initiatives at the behest of the fossil fuel industry is way past the stage where oligarchs line their pockets with ill-gotten gains and is edging into the stage where people can’t afford their bills anymore.       Big Oil is a huge part of that culture.

      It always infuriates me that MAGA believes that climate change is a hoax and that somehow climate scientists are all making it up for money. As if these scientists making 60k per year at universities and research institutions are somehow raking in the big bucks. Meanwhile, the oil industry pulls in tens of billions of profit per year and funds politicians, lobbyists, podcasters, TV shows, social media influences, online campaigns, fake surveys, biased „science“ reports, and entire media empires. But no no, it’s the climate scientists who are the liars…..

      I can say that Republicans are simply beholden to oil company interests and lobbying and that might explain most of this. But there is something more here. It’s like they just associate clean energy with liberals so there’s this sadistic instinct to put more pollution into the environment because they think they are to oWnInG tHe LiBz. I heard Tomi Lahren once go on a screed just because there was a new bicycle lane opened in her neighborhood. These people fucking offended that some people ride bicycles instead of 6,000lb pickup trucks. Seriously, these people are just sick and demented. How fucked up in the head do you have to be to not want to use the fucking sun as energy which is 100% free. What if someone discovers viable nuclear fusion? Are they going pan that too and go back to shoveling coal because they think it’s more „manly“ or some shit?

      I live in Texas and they love clean energy here because it’s cheaper. There’s no fuel cost associated with it and even the startup cost is cheaper than many other sources of energy. Our grade is 1/3 clean energy believe it or not.

      It got blamed during our great freeze of 2021, but that was a failure of the natural gas supply lines. Wind energy barely had any interruption. It was detailed in a 200 page report, but nobody bothered to read it.

      I make my living in oil and gas, but I respect the clean energy. And I try to explain to my coworkers and the people around me the truth from the lies.

      Makes absolutely no sense…. These technologies are getting to the point that they are not only good for the environment, but they actually save us money too. My work installed a huge solar panel farm suspended above my parking lot at work. I was highly skeptical, figuring it would cause more issues than it solved. I was wrong. The panels turned out to be really nice. They kept my car out of the summer sun and winter snow. On rainy days, you had plenty of dry space to get your umbrella ready. And apparently 60% of the site’s energy needs were covered by the panels. (And we used a ridiculous amount of energy, because it wasn’t just office space.)
