Not getting married is a perfectly viable option for any sexual orientation. However getting married should be as well.

Personally I would suggest NOT getting married now. If you get married now, then you being in a same sex marriage will be documented. Why is this bad? Well, what if they decide to start rounding up LGBT people? They’ll be able to easily prove you are in fact lgbt. Other stuff, such as internet activity, can potentially be explained away, concealed, or denied, but there’s no denying a registered same sex marriage.

They’re updating wills, living wills, signing power of attorney documents, updating retirement, pension, and insurance documents to ensure that they pay out to the partner, adding each other to car titles, and a bunch of other nitty gritty things in case something bad happens to one of them.

Even though lesbians have the highest (it is quite high) divorce rate, gay men’s low divorce rate is so low it makes lgbt marriages last longer than heterosexual marriage on average.
Lesbians tend to get married much sooner in their relationships than gay men. This isn’t saying that they rush into it, but Gay men usually date for decades before they marry. I know several gay male couples who’ve dated for 30-40 years before they were allowed to marry. I dated my husband for 10 years before we were engaged.
If you rush queer people into getting married, it totally skews the data. And this will totally be used by the right to show how we don’t take marriage seriously.
And I just.. look at the woman who brought this case to the Supreme Court and feel kinda weird when she’s on her 4th marriage and 3rd husband.. like, she can’t even commit to a divorce since she remarried one of her ex husbands…
