Good for them! They are not an essential service, the Government has no right to order them back to work. The attendants are criminally underpaid and deserve a living wage.
they will put people in prison to protect the business-friendly gov’t from any economic impact. everything’s an essential service when line go down.
Good. Collective bargaining is meaningless if the government just „legislates“ the union back to work as soon as there’s a strike.
Unions got my full on support, governments are way to comfortable with abusing every power they have anytime they want.
The Canadian government loves to pander to corporations to screw over Canadians. If there is no agreement and they chose to strike then sucks to be Air Canada.
The government already screwed over the youth employment in this country and has screwed over everyone with excessive immigration – reducing resources for all (citizens and immigrants in terms of jobs, housing, cost if living, etc.)
The Canadian government totally lacks foresight and just focuses on the short term in what corporations want and spews empty words to get elected.
Go strikers go! Don’t let them force you back.
Carney had better step in and support the union or lose a lot of credibility with voters.
Ah yes, the Canadian Board whose Chair used to work for AC.

>Before working in private practice, Ms. Tremblay was senior counsel at Air Canada for seven years and counsel and general counsel of the CLRB for five years.
Air Canada should return to the table if they want the strike to end, not cry to the government.
Does anyone know what the latest offer to the union was? I’m having trouble finding any information on this
Wildcat strike let’s go
Stand strong.
What’s the actual fallout of this and how is enforced? Is it a civil matter and the union pays fines? Otherwise it’s just words
There’s a word for compelling people to work against their will.
They didn’t say sorry? What is Canada coming to?
Not a union fan, but far less a fan of the government using its powers to compel people to do something that is not in their best interest. Fight on.
It’s not bargaining if one side gets to bully the other side when they don’t like what’s happening. COMPROMISE! NEGOTIATE! Especially when it’s the government on one side of the table. As inconvenient as it may be for those us that are getting fucked during this time, they AC employees deserve to be able to stand their ground.
Canadians stand with the union, not the corporation. Very disappointed in Carney.
Forcing people to work for free is also illegal. why won’t the government crack down on that too?
The concept of an illegal strike is already messed up, but if it was an essential service like paramedics, you can kinda understand.
Civilian air travel is not an essential service. In almost every case, it is a luxury. If Air Canada is upset their timetables are delayed, dang wow sounds like labour is in a strong position to collectively bargain.
I’m sure these wealthy CEO’s can give up one solid gold rocket car to give fair wages. Walk out. I’m not flying so I don’t mind.
General strike 🪧
On the side of the flight attendant union.
Fact of the matter is that Air Canada should improve both customer service and internal employee treatment.
Who exactly pays for all these planes and the wages for the employees and the C-suite? It’s the passengers. Who are the ones helping passengers have an enjoyable experience on an otherwise miserable trip in a metallic tube in the fly? Its the flight attendants.
It’s not the middle management and C-suite personally handing out meals, snacks, and drinks for hours everyday.
Canada board can go fuck itself.
They are literally trying to force flight attendants to go back to working for free. (The pay does not depend on if they are working, but if the door is closed/open and if the break is on/off)
I deeply feel for the staff.
I believe the pilots make a lot of money right but the staff below like flight attendants make very very little?
