      Good. I’ve never been terribly pro union but seeing the government consistently side with giant corporations over Canadian workers has been pretty sickening.

      I’d rather them do an illegal strike than to make flying be even more painful than it often is.

      If they decided to make boarding hell, delay flights left right and centre in their job action instead of just having them cancelled it would be even more chaos,

      Right now it impacts just air Canada flights, if they started causing flight delays regularly they’d impact every Canadian Airport. and that would be way worse.

      It’s about time a union stood up to the federal government to defend their charter rights. Back to work legislation has become routine for the Liberals, and we all owe these flight attendants for standing up for our collective bargaining rights.

      The order reminds me of Michael Scott declaring bankruptcy.

      A couple of things that peeve me.

      1. Government is treating Air Canada as an essential service. Which I agree it is, but at that point, it should be nationalized.

      2. Government strong arming a union into binding arbitration.

      Nobody should be forced to work – That’s just slavery with extra steps.

      The way this issue is being handled annoys me.

      12 hours to force them back to work. Then they appoint an arbitrator that worked as legal counsel for Air Canada to oversee the binding arbitration?

      Federal government could not look more complicit. I fully understand workers not bowing to this corrupt and oral bankrupt action.

      Hold the line! Hopefully the strong outside the union support continues, they will need it as the full anti-Charter oligarchy friendly leech of a government tries to crush them.

      Honestly at this point LPC should drop the mask fully and admit they are a centre right party, because they are acting like one (even though they de facto have been).

      I am curious is there any consequences for the union? if not, then why didnt Canada Post for example take the same approach?

      What a nightmare own goal for the government this has been.

      If they were really concerned with mobility around Canada, they could have done something like open the doors up to foreign airlines running domestic routes, that would have lit a fire under Air Canada. Instead, they’ve burnt (and continue to burn!) a ton of political capital and goodwill from the public.

      Deemed illegal by the government that props up Air Canada every few years with favorable treatment to the company, not the workers

      Oh that’s possibly going to be a very bad move for the union and it’s members.

      This means they can fire the employees and refuse to allow the current union to represent the replacements.
