How surprising, the PM-from-corporate is a strikebreaker. Your government is the one standing in the way of a negotiated settlement by trying to break the strike and force flight attendants back to work.

And this is why, despite so many people saying Carney was the best choice last election, I couldn’t vote for him. He can claim to be as disappointed as he wants, but if his government stands by his decision to make these strikes illegal then he’s going to have to deal with the reckoning it brings.

This needs to be undone, full stop.
A fully expected result of the strike. Whoever was in power would have ordered them back to work. Maybe not as quickly but it would have happened. The result of what is basically a monopoly on flying in Canada.
People complaining about how the flight disruptions have inconvenienced their lives overlook the fact that many of the benefits they enjoy today like parental leave, paid sick days, etc were won on the backs, blood, sweat and tears of Unions or strike actions, many of them „illegal“ at the time.
The government would never have gotten away with such a quick return to work order before a strike even got going in Europe.
For a country that wants to distance itself from the US more and more, we sure like to emulate the way they do things down south rather than look to the EU and the worker protections that they have.
There are reasons why a fellow like Stephen Harper once upon a time would have asked a fellow like Carney to be his new Finance Minister. He may be a Liberal, but this is a very Harper move.
Not sure what anyone else was thinking the govt was going to do ? It’s like people outraging thinking PP would have done anything differently. Ac should pay them better I am not arguing about that but if the flag carrier was striking this was the inevitable outcome.
Air Canada is getting raked over the coals on social media, and rightly so. Fix the problem and quit asking workers to do unpaid work.
