It’s very strange that the protesters are simultaneously arguing that the war in Gaza should be ended AND that the release of the hostages should be secured.
Hasn’t this always been the negotiation point that Israel has offered Gaza since day 1? I thought it was the various militant groups (e.g. Hamas, PIJ) that refused to adhere to that, hence the entire issue with how long the conflict has persisted.
The population of Israel is under ten million. That means 10 percent of the country was out protesting the current Israeli Gaza policy.
The people protesting are demanding the war be ended and the hostages released. Hamas will now proceed to spit on a Israeli diplomat and then release another video tormenting said hostages to scare Israel off from retaliating.
Hamas has no real interest in ending this or handing over any hostages, or probably even disarming. They are drastically winning the PR battle and the longer this goes the higher chance they get more of what they want. For Hamas there is no peace, they do not want a two state solution longterm, they’d accept it short term and then gear up and attack again.
Netanyahu needs to take the win, get the hostages back, and move on. Hell he should have done that months ago.
Good to see the Israeli populous starting to shift against the war. People are gonna say „ohhh it’s only 10% protesting most still support it“ but consider this
A) There’s a good chance a large amount of people oppose the war just aren’t participating in the protest (I never went to an anti-war rally regarding the war on terror, for example).
B) It’s something, all anti-war and anti-government movements in countries start small and then grow overtime. Let’s focus on supporting those who oppose the war.
Update: downvoting my comment for the memes since apparently what I’ve said is oooooh so offensive to ya’ll. Least the people commenting are pretty chill.
one of the rare, maybe first time in history, where people worldwide want to reward terrorists with what they want. especially Israelis when the main objective of Hamas is complete destruction of israel
people have completely lost it
