NDP working overtime and back to collecting emotions.
Its a tough situation no matter how you spin in , the dramatics of comparing Carney to Harper works about as well as comparing Carney to Trudeau.
The support Carney sheds here was already calculated in the long game .
This is hardly some shock turn of events, Trudeau used back to work orders just as well. We are also in an exceptional delicate economic situation right now and our flag carrier shutting down would be a massive blow to the already struggling economy. That said, there’s no denying the prevalence of back to work orders is an erosion of workers rights. How we can balance workers rights to effectively engage in collective bargaining while not having major sections of the economy come to a complete stop is an answer I don’t have aside from the vague notion of increasing competition as a hedge to a single companies importance.
He hasn’t used back to work orders in regard to the Postal Workers. The argument in the article is pretty one sided. From what I read in other articles Air Canadas policy of getting paid only during flight time is standard practice on other airlines worldwide. I also read Air Canada has made them a significant pay offer already. If it is true, why is no one talking about that.
