Trump is just ignorant. He is treating a genocidal invasion like a business merger.
The territory of Ukraine is protected by art 2, 17, 73 of their Constitution.
In particular art. 73 says: *Changes to the territory of Ukraine must be decided exclusively by an all-Ukrainian referendum.*
There is no chance that any land swapping can happen because Trump, or Putin, or even Zelenskyy, agree.
Zelenskyy can only take what is said and repeat it to the Ukrainians that will then have to vote, on their own best judgement, about changing their Constitution, in a nationwide public referendum. And 80% of the Ukrainians don’t want to concede any territory, not even an inch.
There is no other way to change the Ukrainian territory. Trump did not consider Democracy, and is trying to make Zel agree with Putin like if this was a business merger.

When the USSR collpased ukraine had all the nukes on their soil. Now, they coundt use them 9due to moscow having the launch codes), but still ahd them under control. The US then pushed Ukraine, Belarus, and Kazakhstan to give up their nukes since it was costly and who wants more countries having nuke technology. Ukraien then agreed that it would give up its nukes in exchange for the US, UK, and RUSSIA to respect it’s independence, sovereignty, and existing borders, and also not using force against it. THey ended up giving all their nukes to russia and nothing bad ever happened again.

No country/nation in the history of warfare that loses a war likes to be the one whom surrenders.
But it still happens to those whom lose a war, and while Russia did have setbacks in the war, they achieved the objective of holding onto Ukraine land and preventing them from joining NATO.
Ukraine has not achieved its goal of kicking the Russians off their land, they lost.
It’s a hard pill to swallow.
Yes it’s sad and not fair that Ukraine lost, but it’s part of reality.
No one wants to be the loser. And even if they have objectively lost, many don’t like admitting defeat.
