      What housing crisis!!!

      The numbers actually hide the real impact, outwards migration are mostly people leaving their childhood bedroom, offsetting the inwards who need their own home – so it’s actually much worse than it looks, we’re going backwards in terms of housing.

      Honestly great news, working age immigrants grow the economy. 🥳 not issue free, but better than the problems of high emigration and falling population

      And in a population of 5M+, 90k is less then 2%, not some “explosion”, “invasion”, or whatever the wankers want to claim

      79k net inward migration. 30k new dwellings built. But it’s okay because the tax revenue from non-nationals will be invested into infrastructure? It’s maddening how FG policy boils down to „our strong GDP will fix our social problems“. No hands are required on the steering wheel.

      It’s baffling to me where all these 79k people are going within the property market. I know there’s returning Irish in there who will have a support network and somewhere to live. But the Govt know that we’re not building enough places for people to live in, yet each year more people arrive into the fray. There must be some crazy living situations around the place for people who come here and exist on the lowest tier of renting.

      Remember people, it’s harmful Nimbys and archaic , damaging legislation that prevents at-scale housing to be built which has caused our crisis. It’s not the fault of immigrants; aside from the overall good of open borders, we need immigrants to maintain a replacement-rate population to provide essential services as our native population gets older.

      We can have both positive net immigration and provide abundant housing. But people need to be made aware of the issue.
