      Omg yes

Now do it for Dublin bus, we will be able to fund a space program

    2. I petition for capital punishment but I suppose this is a fair compromise.

    3. Yes !!! Feel for the staff who’ll now be in the awkward position of enforcing it but hopefully it does get enforced.

      Great.

Good to see they’re doing something about it.

      Now, roll on the moaners.

Next step, if you try and get on the train before people get off and block everyones way, straight to jail

Will be enforced about as much as the feet on seats fine, aka never.

Thank God. Always been tempted to find some yodelling music and match volume.

      About damn time

which is a Lizzo song I won’t have to listen to out of someone else’s phone from 2 seats away anymore.

Can we extend it to hospital waiting rooms?

Antenatal appointments while having to endure the absolute cretinous cunts around me listen to shite on Facebook and TikTok is all the contraceptive I need going forward.

    10. I suppose I had a good run. Going to have to buy a set of earphones now. Sound quality won’t be the same. Hard to replicate that tinny sound I enjoy.

    11. People having conversations over their speaker or face timing without headphones would be done too

If you think you’re getting the a €100 fine off Anto going across the country with his feet up on seats, bags on the other, blaring conspiracy theory TikToks while vaping and possibly drinking cans, you’re kidding yourself

    13. Enough_Mistake_7063 on

They’d need staff on the trains to enforce it. Which they don’t have.

Good let’s go full Japanese on this and make it socially unacceptable to talk to load on your phone or in general and have their standard of train services and their public infrastructure… Fuckit lads let’s move to Japan

    15. Melodic-Chocolate-53 on

Good luck with enforcement if you’ve seen some of the types using the trains.

    16. Great, now watch teens ignore and train staff not enforce due to Irish rail not backing them up.

If our Garda can’t enforce the law on young offenders and anti-social behaviour how will Irish rail?

Hope they’re extremely strict with this and it rolls out to the luas too.

These people that are likely to get the fine will instantly claim they can’t afford it but will go be going around with North Face jackets etc

    19. Also why are parents letting their toddlers and children play them phone games with the coin and gun sound effects on full blast. Moving from the front of the bus to the very back made no difference really

Was 8am on a 5 hour bus trip too

Put ur head phones in i dont really be on bus or train but who listen to music out loud on public transport

    21. Enforcement, right. Bet it’s a load of signs and some crap recorded announcement

    22. So, what happens if you don’t pay the fine?

And how is this enforced? Can’t you just get away with saying someone else’s name and address?

    23. Yes signs will go up, but i bet you there will be like 2 fines a year- and both won’t be paid

    24. dubl1nThunder on

should also include fines for having full on conversations on speakerphone like a cunt.

It happens way more on the bus.

They could have free earphones like on planes.

I’d be embarrassed if I accidentally had something blaring for 2 seconds, the few times I’ve used public transport since COVID, it’s a cacophony of shite coming from all angles, makes me miss my old MP3 player.

    27. Yes, finally. Public transport in Japan is the standard every country should aim for.
