Healthy democracies rely on independent media to keep the public informed, an independent legal profession to maintain the rule of law, independent universities to guard objective truth and provide forums for dissent to authority, and independent State and Local governments to counterbalance a powerful Federal government.
Trump’s regime is attacking independent media, law firms, universities, and State and Local governments that don’t bend the knee and pledge unquestioning loyalty.
When fascists are consolidating their power and dismantling our democracy, you have to find out if you will accept the situation you’re in. Either let that become the new normal, or do something. And with that risk everything.
If you fail to defend other people’s rights – that is how you lose your own.
I mean there are leftist militias. Granted some are more let’s say unorthodox than others.
The defenders of democracy inevitably fail when fighting the Fascists because we’re moral and follow the law. They’re immoral and follow no law. We’re playing by rules that make us decent human beings, they have literally no rules, and they revel in that.
We need to stick by our morals and goodness. It hurts, I get it. But we have an obligation to each other and to humans in general to not be them. And that’s really the struggle: The people who have no morals, no values and no culture vs those of us who think there’s more.

It may be fascism, but I saw a few positive videos from Black tiktok creators today on the topic. Many were very for it and were breathing a breadth of fresh air with getting their city back from the crazies, homeboys and drug users.

when i was in the army. we were heavily brainwashed, but still… most everyone hated the president. it was w at the time. we hated cheney. i actually had an opportunity to meet rumsfeld and get a coin from him, i hated him so much that i skipped it. we saw firsthand the war profiteering, that countered the intense brainwashing that all service members experience. that made us deeply cynical and deeply aware of what our country actually is. today’s generation of service members, i’m not sure they have anything so obvious to counter their brainwashing, and of course social media is all just brainwashing algorithms now, which makes it much worse for them.
my point is a lot of people are hoping the military will be sensible and see the difference between serving the constitution and the american people vs serving a tyrannical despot. i wouldn’t count on it. there will be a few who deny unlawful orders, but the thing about carrying around a gun all day is you end up really wanting to use it.
