Die Altersüberprüfung für das Internet scheint weltweit zu fegen. Dies kommt kurz nachdem Großbritannien ihr „Online -Sicherheitsgesetz“ eingeführt hat

Isn’t this just answering “yes” to the onscreen pop-up, “Are you at least 18?”

You know what’s weird, if you try to access PH in Texas you get a politically motivated statement from PH denouncing the ban and mentioning that it won’t work. If you try to access the same site in the UK, you get nothing, just an ask for age verification.

Unlimited free porn is bad for a child’s brain and sexual development. Highly stimulating porn is basically like hard drugs in terms of the amount of dopamine released and addiction potential. I really wish there was better education and awareness of the problems so parents understood their role in protecting their children from porn. Unfortunately there is no medical or scientific consensus that childhood porn use is bad and there even seems to be a stigma against restricting anything sexual as it’s considered being puritanical, uptight or a religious zealot. But anyone who’s experienced porn induced ED or porn addiction knows it’s not benign or harmless.
But I don’t think it’s the government’s job, it’s the parents. Hopefully this will help shift the narrative so parents start to wake up about the dangers of childhood porn use.

So why haven’t I been asked to provide ID to be online yet, since the map says my State should be?

Just like with drivers licenses you cannot fix stupid. These laws are funny & cute like when you look at a sandbox of people with no limbs and find their creations “impressive” for them.

Because this is the first step to digital id. Socialmedia will need id soon (as I heard astralia already planing it) and a lot of other online places. Than it will just the next step for government digital id. Dont forgetvthat these companies are paying the government so they are going the same direction.

yeah ill push back when they aren’t banning degeneracy. I am perfectly fine with outlawing pornography as it was in the past.

God forbid kids look at porn. /s I snuck on sites when I was 13 and turned out fine. Plus it was an awesome day when I found my Dad’s magazine stash! 😁 (This has nothing to do with protecting kids, it’s just setting up a surveillance state. Protest, protest, protest!!! If this came to YT, I would immediately cancel my membership. We’re better than the UK who are dealing with the same laws being enacted. Scary stuff.)

Honestly? Awesome. This should make at least some dent in porn’s rampant effects on society now. Blackmail? Increased surveillance by means of instant identification?
…Time to clean up your content intake.

Good luck having these laws go away. It has already built an industry around it, which means there are now lobbyists fighting for this in the green states and at a Federal level.

The most ridiculous of policies are always disguised under the need to protect children – they know they couldnt defend it on ethical or logical grounds, so they need to call anyone who doesnt like giving their id to private companies a pedo.

This will be used to limit freedom of speech and thats when we’ve really lost. Limit speech and you control information. Control information and you have ultimate power. And yet many conspiracy theorists support it?

Interesting that it’s starting with mostly red states. I thought they cared about freedom and were against a nanny state.

In the name of child safety? Really?
Kids will find a way to get to things they shouldn’t. They always do. I don’t know how we got to this point where we expect big tech to be responsible for what kids do. I’m not saying it should be a free for all, I’m saying there’s a point in which it’s just excessive. Stop subjecting others to your helicopter parenting.
Be a parent, keep track of what they have access to and teach them how to handle it when things inevitably happen. Stop raising children to be children. Kids become adults in our society.
That being said…this is probably just a convenient cover for them to justify collecting more data to use against you.
